Adam Schefter on Adrian Wojnarowski’s retirement: “It takes over your life. You can’t kind of do the job, you have to live the job, and he was done living the job. … Now he gets to do what he wants, which is exactly how it should be.”

  1. You can love him or hate him but Woj is a legend. Changed how sports fans got their news forever. Gonna miss yelling WOJ BOMB!

  2. Major_Damage7207

Woj was a power broker, he helped shape entire narratives in exchange for sources

More of the transcript from Awful Announcing’s twitter(for those who can’t watch the video)

    >”He wanted his life back. He didn’t want to have to work on holidays. He didn’t want to be away from more family gatherings. He didn’t want to have to…take a shower with your phone up against the shower door so you can see a text that’s coming in, or take your phone with you to the urinal and hold it in one hand while you take care of your business in the other. That’s the life that we live.” – Adam Schefter on Woj’s retirement

Mentioning Mort, I wonder if seeing him pass away is part of what lead to Woj wanting to get his life back because he got reminded there is an ending.

  5. Keyser_Sozay

ESPN is doing everything they can rn to sign Shams, right?

  6. lethargicriver

Not only do you have to live with being glued to your phone but also you have to balance the politics of pleasing the insider providing the info with the public scrutinizing and judging your every text. Sometimes, it is easy being objective, other times not so much. We might all have issues with Schefty, but we can all agree, this isn’t a job for everyone.

  7. Special-Two5022

What other reporter has a special move even remotely close to a Woj Bomb?

  8. byebyehackysmacky

If that shower & urinal comment is true, that shit is wild.

  9. anonahmus

Malika is a fucking baddie, I can never keep my eyes off her. That damn smile.

Schefter knows better than anyone. The day his heart isn’t in it to dress up in all black in the midst of the night, break into a hospital, find private medical records, and then illegally share them to the whole world then he will hang them up too. Happens to all the greats

  11. Educational-Hunt2683

Alright he’s a journalist not ghandi, relax shefter

  12. philadelphia76

Will someone PLEASE think of the multimillionaire scoop journalist who needs to external battery packs on his phone!? Fuck the Marines I’m only saluting Woj from now on

  13. qpwoeor1235

It really is wild how much money there is in reporting free agent signings like 20 min before someone writes an article about it

  14. Beneficial_Emu9299

Instead of sucking .… , people are sucking his …. now

  15. JayDee62

Bruh was cutting a promo. I was like.. ‘wait, what?’

  16. RiverReflection1

Woj was *the* guy in NBA reporting, he set the standard. But yeah, that lifestyle? It’s a 24/7 grind, and eventually, you’ve gotta step back. Respect to him for recognizing it’s time to live for himself. He’s earned it.”

  17. caulpain

he also got his pants pulled down with the jj reddick hiring. he leveraged his relationship with the hurleys to save face and get danny a raise. now he’ll spend his free time gassing up their hs with funds and players. the adopted son has come home.

  18. holographoc

That’s insane dedication to something the world does not particularly need.

  19. What value did Woj actually add? He reported signings and trades that would be announced by the respective teams or players once official a couple hours later. What was the point of him working endlessly to report news like 2 hours earlier?

  20. Grossly_over_ripened

Sports reporters think their jobs are difficult lmfao

  21. ktran2804

I bet he has one last major Woj bomb this season…. when we least expect it lol

  22. Musa_2050

This guy tweeted draft picks, I’m sure he loved the attention

  23. Legendtner

Can somebody explain a non american and relatively new fan (nearly 4 years) if espn will replace woj with somebody else or is there another up and coming insider breaking news stories like shams and woj?

All know is them breaking news so what was it like before and will we go back to it (incase somehow shams stops too for some reason you never know)?
