The Houston Rockets have one of the NBA’s brightest young cores in the league, highlighted by Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green, two members of the 2021 NBA Draft Class who have yet to sign an extension. The Rockets acquiring this talent in the draft was a part of their roster overhaul just four seasons ago, where instead of focusing on building a super team, like the Lakers with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, they looked to build a contender organically, like the Boston Celtics when they drafted Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. But now, Houston is stuck in a tough situation. Do they trade young pieces and draft capital for a superstar like Kevin Durant or do they ride it out and see what they have with their young guys, even if they are going to need extensions in the near future?
