  1. Can't believe how much smarter athletes have gotten since the old days, this guy sounds like he actually went to class in college

  2. And that’s why we all remember Battier for always absolutely shutting down Ko- …. Oh. Right. 😂😂

*I’m not hating on Shane either, anyone who really watched basketball in those days remembers SB was a monster at Duke, then became one of the most solid 3 and D wings and role players, and all-round badass defenders in the league. I guess it’s just funny that such a legendary defender’s “success” story against Kobe was that he was able to marginally influence him to shoot his weak shots more. Legends, tho. One love y’all.

  3. thank you cause that game 2 was LEGENDARY, tough shot after tough shot. One of my favorite highlight reels to watch. As far as the shit talk on Kobe in this series, who gives a shit. Kobe by far took this OKAY team with a star in pau gasol to 2 rings.

  4. Memphis used to be a peaceful place. I met Shane On Beale St. It was 3:30 am. He turned the corner coming on to beale . He
Was all by himself, I shook his hand and kept it moving. Totally it was great to meet him

  5. He studied his opponent and came in with a game plan. So many athletes in today's game don't do that anymore. . They just show up and expect their raw skill to be enough. Every goat known to man in or out of sports has had something in common.. Preparation.

  6. Players with lower accolades can’t critique a baller lol. I rock wit you Shane but please lol. The percentage on his shot was still 42 percent with a team of no one. He had to shoot damn near everything to have a chance. I’m sure he’d be lower in avg. Bean cooked anything.

  7. Shane Battier was one smart dude. He knew numbers. One of the best in the NBA on taking charges because he knew the odds and the odds were in his favor to step in and take one.

  8. That's how the scouting report works back then. Every information and details about your opponent is on point. You just need to pick your poison and if you can control your match up in the pace you want.

  9. I don’t understand why more players didn’t/don’t think like this. If you know you’re coming up against one of the best players ever why not do your research and try your best to attack their weaknesses.
