This still feels crazy that it happened

Melo was one of the bright spots on that team for me

He was an awful defender, but we did him no favors playing him at center. I do miss him though:(

The banana yellow jerseys? I agree. Probably why it was your bright spot – not hating.

So was Rodman and Steve Nash joining the lakers

Imagine if we gave this dude a max in 2014, basketball fucking purgatory for 5-6 years with Carmelo chucking 40 shots a game. No LeBron after as well

I got his jersey and ngl it’s one of my favorite things. Just so random lol.

  6. He was a nice outside threat for us (but I have never liked Melo).

  7. Wut? That the Lakers signed a washed up star? Last one that actually worked out was Bob McAdoo

I loved having him on the blazers. Was hoping he’d retire with us. He was still quite the iso machine and could still get his own shot easily.

  9. Hot take: he was good for us and should’ve been brought back. That 2021 roster was horrible and forced Melo to play the 5, so no shit his defense was gonna hurt us. But he was an elite floor spacer, still showed he could create his own shot when needed, and was good from midrange and a solid presence on the boards. The next season we had a good defense but serious issues with spacing, Melo would have been perfect for that team.

4 years late when the team was really bad unfortunately

Part of the fun of being a Laker fan is the ‘past their prime’ stars!

Sucked the season was underwhelming, would’ve liked to see them make a playoff run

Fresh snow!! I’m just happy we got to see him in the purp and gold.

I’ve blocked that out, stop bringing it up…..

We are always like one key player from being a potential top 3 team lol damnit

  16. I remember there was a game he was heating up at the end. We had the ball down 1 on the last possession and he was posted up. Westbrook dribbled to the other side of the court and bricked a 3 as time expired. I thought it was a lock that wetbrook would give to melo and melo would hit a 2 for the win. Oh how I was wrong.

This was a terrible choice by the front office. Carmelo Anthony has been one of the most overrated players in NBA history.

It was over when young bloods started disrespecting him. It was sad but it’s a reality check for him which helped him ease into retirement.
