  1. when lowry left isnt the same as vince, Vince ruined his value to the point where we got the worst package in NBA history which set the franchise behind way more not to mention the raptors were still a new team in the league, he up to this day still doesn't deserve to get his jersey to me because he never reached his full potential he didn't care about being the best of all time when his talent screamed it at least kyle delivered a chip plus draft compensation and players when he asked to go to the heat and recognized that it was time for paskcall and freds turn to take over, lowry passed the batton vince ran away thinking about himself only

  2. I would have to think that Damon Stoudamire would be next to have his jersey hung up in Toronto for being the very first pick team made.

  3. Big difference when you list those other players is that they were not trying to suck, while under contract.

  4. DeMar and Kawhi for sure should have their numbers retired based on their personal and team achievements.

Bosh, I wouldn't include. It's not entirely his fault, but it's a low bar if we're saying jersey retirement for a franchise player that maxed out at 40-ish wins and doesn't have the cultural significance of saying a team the way Carter did.

  5. Not saying that he doesnโ€™t deserve to have his jersey retired. But I donโ€™t think itโ€™s appropriate to have it retired before Lowry, Demar or even Siakam. VC is the reason why basketball survived in Canada but make no doubt him forcing his way out left the franchise destroyed for nearly two decades. Yea management sucked but so did his mindset at the time.

  6. What debate? If you are still holding on to a grudge after 20 years and canโ€™t see what this man did for this city and the sport in this country, thatโ€™s a YOU problem.

  7. This is a disgrace to the franchise. It shouldn't be a debate. I don't wanna hear your opinion if you were not old enough to watch VC play in Toronto.

Such a terrible step backwards. We already got our chip, but now we wanna honour a guy who quit on his team because he was a good dunker?

I'm gonna try to be there Nov 15th to boo and that will probably be my last Raptors game.

Do any of you "supporters" even remember who we got back in the trade.

  8. VC's legacy is playing out as it should, he's here often for random events and he gets his flowers every single time. Retiring of his jersey ain't it though, we have the Canadian Basketball HOF for that. It should obv be for KLow. Who ate/slept/breathed Raps. Came from nothing and took us to a chip. Wants to take a 1-day to retire a Raptor. When he left he made sure our young guys could walk. When will we ever get that again, when have we ever seen that in our history? We should retire his jersey. At that game at halftime. Listen say what you want about VC but the reaction from everyone is what it is. Meh. That's unfortunate for our franchise. KLow would have had the entire downtown core closed off.

  9. Thumbs down, I'm not watching the rest of the video.

This Franchise was a joke before Lowry and Derozan and now it's a joke again after the dynamic duo. We owe Lowry and Derozen more.

  10. 18:24 honestly what difference does it make. Why do we need to rush. That's not what S tier teams do. Can we not be so mid.. KLow has maybe 2 seasons left in him.

  11. Wasn't Mats Sundin, Roy Halladay, Carlos Delgado popular as well in Toronto during the same time when Vince Carter was playing for the Raptors ๐Ÿค”

  12. I was thinking about if the Raptors retired Damon Stoudamire number since he was the 1st ever Raptor drafted ๐Ÿค”

  13. You are fine with Bosh going up there? Are you kidding? The guy had nothing good to say about Toronto after he left, he came back and pretended to be a raptor again during the championship run, and the very next year he went out of his way to NOT mention Toronto in his HOF speech. You do not retire someone like that, VC never had that level of disrespect post Raptors. He has proven time and time again he does not want to be associated with the Raptors, so just leave it at that. And to be clear, 06-07 run, was my second favorite Raptor season, I never seen a Raptors team come together like that and play unselfishly and become more then the sum of its parts.

  14. O come on, the bar has to be higher than FVV and Siakam. Agree that VC, Lowry, and Demar are locks, and that Bosh is a good bar. Khawhi was a rental, you dont retire rental player numbers. There has to be a legacy and cultural impact to be considered.

  15. No matter how Raptors' fans hated Vince when he left, the organization still decided to retire his jersey… Expect OKC to retire KD's jersey as well.. Fans need to see it on the professional level not on a peraonal level

  16. Vince put the Raptors on the map. We were nothing before Vince. Lowry is the GROAT, but Vince deserves to be in the rafters and to be there first.

  17. if Lebron never returned to Cleveland to win a championship, should Cleveland retire Lebron's Jersey? I think majority of fans would say no in this hypothetical scenario.

This isn't about holding a grudge. Toronto has experienced way more success in the years that Vince left. Lowry and DeRozan had the team competitive in the playoffs for many years and had way more success than Vince ever did in his six seasons(making playingoffs just twice, exiting in second round once and first round once). Toronto even won a champsionship with Lowry and Leonard. The argument against Vince is simply about whether he has done enough for the franchise. Yes he is a HOF player but did he really accomplish enough for this franchise? Personally I think not.

  18. Ainโ€™t no debate, VC was the first to put Toronto on the map. Thank you Vince๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ congrats on being the first Raptor to have his jersey hanging in the rafters.
