TA is a funny dude, always has been…glad that we get to see a bit more of his personality now that his playing career has ended.
Gentry’s results as a coach speak for themselves. Poor results, bounced around from team to team with little direction with the squads he led. Certainly isn’t organizational as much as it is the coach’s failures when some of these retreads continued to get opportunities they hadn’t truly earned. Monty Williams is another example of that.

I had a friend who worked on the media table for the Blazers and he used to tell me alllll the time that Gentry was awful at coaching ahaha. Makes it worse we got swept but he said that he saw Rondo doing all the critical coaching back then. TA is hilarious lol
Gentry was only 62 when Allen was in New Orleans. That’s younger than Carlisle, Thibs, (obviously) Pops, and only 4 years older than Kerr/Donovan.

Gentry and Adams were part of the Kerr coaching staff that decided to guard Tony Allen with Andrew Bogut in the playoffs, which probably affected his career for the worse. Gentry seemed like a great assistant coach with the Warriors tbh.

I honestly don’t think he was as bad this. His last year he got Zion running point, not making tons of dunks and focusing more on his iq. I think the issue when talking about Zion, is that you want to see the guy in the paint, but his iq is much higher than most. He can distribute the ball extremely well and can rush the paint when necessary. With zions size and injury risk, I actually thought towards the end of that season was a good look.
