Yankees vs Red Sox. Long history and same division

  2. papicholula

Yankees Sox due to actual fistfights and throwing at batters lol

  3. nepatsfan49

Definitely Red Sox Yankees. As a Celtics fan living in Southern California lakers “fans” couldn’t care less.

  4. Sadorisgod

Sox they actually throw punches more than the celts lakers

  5. WiserStudent557

It’s not the same dynamic. Celtics and Lakers is almost exclusively a sports rivalry. Sox/Yankees is about Boston and New York as much as anything.

Yankees/sox by a lot. It’s impossible to hate someone in a completely different conference as much as you hate a team that’s in the same division

  7. CanyonCoyote

They don’t sell Fuck the Lakers shirts throughout the city.

  8. Sweaty_Ad440

yankees/sox is the biggest rivalry in American sports, it’s that and it’s not close

Ngl compared to Sox/Yanks, the Celtics/Lakers isn’t even a rivalry lol. That’s how contentious it is.

    Red Sox Yankees for sure

You could maybe argue that Celtics Lakers had the biggest peak of either rivalry in the 80s. So much went into that matchup with Bird vs Magic, east coast vs west coast, and the race politics. The whole country was watching a picking a side. But that was the only time the rivalry was on that level

You can hear a Yankees suck chant at every major Boston sports event. So yeah it’s the Sox yanks by a lot

It’s Red Sox/Yankees. They just play each other more often and it’s been a rivalry for like a century now. I feel like the Celtics and Lakers have had cooling down periods where they don’t often play each other in meaningful games. At this point it’s been over a decade since the Celtics and Lakers have played each other in a game that genuinely mattered.

99-04 was peak Sox/Yankees. They played each other 15-20 times per year not including playoffs.

If you asked me this November 2003 or prior, it wouldn’t even be close…Red Sox vs Yankees. Since October 2004, the 4-1 advantage and loss of the 86 year “curse”, Celtics Lakers has definitely taken over. I guarantee you’re more likely to hear a Beat LA or Let’s Go Celtics chant burst out today, whereas in 2004 or prior it would have been Yankees Suck all day everyday.

Sox/Yankees and it’s not particularly close. Lakers are barely even a rival anymore. I hate the fucking Yankees with every fiber of my being.

  16. RedGlovesOverHere

Boston is in both — everyone wanna be rivals with us

  17. colliejuiceman

RS/Yankees imo. There is no “Lakers Suck” chant that has gone generations long

  18. ozzyman31495

Yankees – Red Sox was literally Boston Vs. New York.

There’s just so much intensity to that rivalry both on & off the Field.

  19. PlaceInvaders1

Sox Yanks. Play each other so much every year and it’s never nice. Not to mention their rivalry was always “big brother, little brother” for the longest time.

Lakers Celtics is only felt rn imo because Lebron is there and he has his own Celtics rivalry. If they were a play in team without lebron on it, the games wouldn’t be as interesting for the players.

  20. Chuckyducky6

Yanks and Lakers both suck. I hate them both in different ways.

  21. Zealousideal_Room162

Yankees and Red Sox for sure but for legacy it’s definitely the Lakers and Celtics, especially for how many finals appearances they’ve faced each other on. I don’t like either but I have more respect for the Lakers than the Yankees.

  22. guitaristcollector

I’d say Red Sox-Yankees because it’s Boston vs New York. Besides the Lakers, I’m okay with most other LA teams, even the Dodgers. Both the Sox and the Pats won their last title against LA too!

  23. massdebator69

Celtics/Lakers don’t have the true hatred that Sox/Yanks have. Multiple generations of Sox and Yankees players despise each other, only really the 80s Celts/Lakers replicated that. Even 2008-2010 it was more so just two excellent teams competing.

Strictly sports rivalry related — Yankees Sox. Still can’t believe we traded Babe Ruth away.
