The NBA Has An Alperen Sengun Problem

Alperen Sengun is looking to be a really great big man for the Houston Rockets and on his way to become an all-star. His partnership with Jalen Green and Fred VanVleet is going to make Sengun a problem. Alperen Sengun passing has been his biggest skill as well as his footwork and scoring.

  1. I would give up on Green to be the other half of that duo. Jalen even if he's efficient (which he is not) is not a good defender or playmaker so his impact on the game is minimal outside of his scoring

  2. Although Sengun has decent defensive awareness, I believe he still needs quicker legs in defense which he should improve to let him more reliable switch defender.
Moreover, a better solid body will probably make him a better rim protector as he has high basketball IQ not only in offense also in defense. So he might need to work on his muscle mass a bit more.
Finally polishing his shooting might be a great asset for Sengun especially in mld-range where he is already OK. Everybody criticising his 3 pointers, but this dude needs time and it will be unfair to expect him to improve in all parameters ln short term and all at once. I believe being a good and consistent mid-range shooter is more vital to be a "core center" in the league. And also will create some other extra offensive choices not only for him but also for his team.
Of course being a reliable 3 point shooter will ease to put himself among "elite centers", but I believe my above points may have more priority for the time being.
(Great analysis Nick, keep up good work)
    👏👍💪😂

  3. Rockets finish top four in West. Along with one of Kings or Pels. Couple top teams are gonna slide. Wolves or Mavs will be a play-in team.

  4. posted a 2 hour sengun highlight reel on my channel. all from his year 3. he's such an interesting player to watch

  5. Alpi had three Rockets coaches with him all summer in Turkey and worked on his body tirelessly. As Ime Udoka alluded to, he is much more lean and strong compared to last year and also quicker on his feet. He is an All-Star this year, I would be shocked if he wasn't.

  6. Jalen Green won't be a Rocket past this season. He might get traded by the deadline. Sengun, Shepherd, Thompson, Whitmore and Eason are the future.

  7. if only he had better team mates. It's his 3rd season and Rockets have a mediocre team around him who doesn't understand who to utilize Alpi.

  8. He will be great no doubt. The only question for me is: Can he survive a whole Playoff-Run at the 5?
Defensively i dont know if he can be what he needs to be for the rockets when they try to contend

  9. Sengun probably just needs to polish his overall offense and be more disciplined on defense to be solidified as an all-star. He already stands out, the potential is still very high so long as they build around him
