    Late April, last home game of the season, middle of the 4th quarter:
    Down 15, Pistons subpar on defense as usual – CUE Superfreak by Rick James.
    Suddenly the Coaching Staff joins the starting five on the court, clap as they defend with them. Fade to Black, CUE the credits

    Yeah, the first two games equaled in losses but they came in a more.. professional way, ya know? It just LOOKED like they belonged in the game.

    Can't be applauding moral victories 4 years after getting the 1st overall pick with lottery picks in every year since then. Tough starting schedule be damned, if they can't manage a couple wins in the first 10 games then I'd start looking for paper bags on heads and "sell the team" chants to fire back up.

    Cade needs to build his own rhythm, so you play him as a point guard. He can’t secure the ball and the average point shot 37.2% from 3 last season.

    Cade will get to the rim at will during the course of a game, typically resulting in a tough layup attempt. The 4th quarter is exempt from that time, as set and focused half court defenses are too challenging.

    His defense is dreadful. When other teams stink for most of the game and end up with a competition, they are still rewarded with opportunities to score on Cade Cunningham.

    That’s why Monty turned down the Pistons until he was made an offer he couldn’t refuse, the mandate from ownership is make it work with Cade. Nobody can tell the owner he made a mistake, so everyone is just riding out checks.

    Didn’t the Pistons start off 2-1 last year? I don’t think these two games should be a real indication of anything. Give it some time

    Cade gave up over 20 points off turnovers alone . He is the issue with this team as well as Duren he is not a starting center , Isaiah Stewart is not an nba player, Tobias is pure trash .. they need to improve those positions ASAP I will trade Cade for a true point guard

    They still have a long way to go before they're actually good but the improvements seem pretty apparent. I think the biggest issues from last year like sloppy passing and positioning have improved but still need to be much more consistent. There have been a lot of costly defensive miscommunications between new players on the perimeter, hopefully those get ironed out soon. To me this season isn't about the start, it's about the improvement we make over the season. They've been slightly more aware but they need to keep improving that for long stretches of the season, not one or two games.

    @Kofie what’s your expectation for Pistons wins this season?

    Watched bits of the Pacers game and am a Cavs fan so watched this last one. As you've said, they look sooo much better than last year. Feels like they are in the 25-30 range, but could really see them exceeding expectations and getting near that play-in spot.

    B-Ball Paul is a great get for any team, imo. Hope he shows out this season for Detroit. Still not sure how I feel about the team altogether, definitely feels like an inversion of your typical 2010s Pistons team. Went from being a journeyman magnet with a few young guys to a ton of young guys with a few vets (I think Beasley would be the only one who could be described as a journeyman). I hope Malik gets back to his scoring ways and that Tobias has a good return to the Motor City. Btw, love the Kyle Rayner figure, Kofie; his 90s design is one of my favorites in comic book history.
