The Boston Celtics Just BROKE Basketball…

The 2025 NBA Season has official tipped off with the Boston Celtics taking on the New York Knicks in Karl Anthony Towns’ debut and the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves in Julius Randle’s debut. The Celtics tied the record for the most threes in a game with Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, Al Horford, and others raining in perimeter shots while Jayson Tatum made a statement with an MVP type performance. On the Knicks’ side, Mikal Bridges struggled to start with the new jumper, OG Anunoby couldn’t get much going, and despite Miles McBride’s and Jalen Brunson’s best efforts New York didn’t stand a chance. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis put on his own MVP and DPOY type performance against the Timberwolves in a win where Bronny James debuted alongside LeBron James and the Julius Randle, Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert pairing looked a bit clunky. Let’s talk about it.

  1. just keep in mind, the celtics messed around in the last quarter and didnt play porzingis. they should be better once he returns in nov.

this is a revenge tour. thank you steve kerr.

  2. The Knicks will be better at the end of the season once they get their chemistry but the Celtics will still be the clear favorite

  3. is it really so hard to say this team is all-time good? maybe it's not that they didn't play anybody. maybe they're just good at basketball.

  4. The entire team had something to prove that night, after all that happen during the summer it must have felt good for the Celtics to shut everyone up.

  5. I watched the first quarter and I was like “oh nice, Celtics are up” I had to do a prayer thing, and when I started watching again before the second half, I’m like “okay, what happened to the Knicks defense because the Celtics are up by 19.”

  6. I think 2 things can be true at the same time with last years finals. Yes Boston had an easy run to the finals, the other teams were beat up and it meant they were fresher when they came up against Dallas. BUT they were also the most dominant team all season and in the finals regardless of how easy it seemed. There's a fair chance that even if the other teams had been healthy, they'd still have smoked them, and they did most of it without KP

  7. I agree with Kenny Beecham that this Celtics team may be looked back on as a super important one in NBA history. They're pushing the envelope of math-driven offense in a way we haven't seen before. I get that people don't like it, but it works. There's a reason so many coaching staffs around the league are talking about wanting to shoot more threes this season. Mazzulla-ball is just an extension of the cutting edge play of teams like the D'Antoni Suns, the Van Gundy Magic, the Kerr Warriors, and the D'Antoni Rockets. The Celtics have the best personnel in the league to execute this kind of three-point-centric offense, but I still expect a lot of imitators now that they've won a title and looked poised to repeat. Again, you can dislike it, but that's not going to stop teams from doing. Basketball evolves, and teams will follow that evolution out of fear of getting left behind.

  8. If you enjoy watching the Boston Celtics play auraless analytic ball you probably think Weezer is a heavy metal band and mayonnaise is spicy

  9. let's shoot 3s and hope the others don't get the reb… oh, nevermind: it's the celtics… they'll disappear when most needed

  10. Wearing headphones makes your background music give weird sounds and echos I thought someone was yelling outside

  11. celtics didnt even have their 3rd best player (KP) while hauser was playing with an injured back (why he shot 2/7).
