Did The Timberwolves Ruin Their Future?

Did The Timberwolves Ruin Their Future?

The Minnesota Timberwolves are coming off one of their best seasons in franchise history and it looked like they had one of the brightest futures in the entire NBA. Then out of nowhere we got the shocking news Karl Anthony Towns had been traded to the Knicks for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and a future pick. It’s still very early, but with the slow start this season and lack of assets moving forward the Timberwolves might have ruined that bright future.

  1. Trading away Karl was a mistake of epic proportions. He spread the floor for them. He was an exemplary teammate and employee. He never complained. And above all, he didn’t mind Edwards being the majn guy.

  2. Gobert trade?? He’s On a lower contract. No draft picks….they need this team to gel or they are in a bad place.

  3. KAT is having a career year. At the five he is unguardable. He just drops a quiet 25 lol.

  4. Nobody in Minnesota is remotely surprised a local pro team had one deep playoff run then followed it up by destroying the core of the team that made it happen. Doesn’t matter the sport; it’s just the sad pathetic sports tradition in this town. See ya in the conference finals in 2043-44 Wolves!

  5. Trading for Rudy did them before they even knew it. They had Walker Kessler, who is younger, less expensive, and would've filled in the rim protector role nicely. I don't think they would've gone as far with Kessler as they did with Rudy, but they could have down the line while still having draft capital. Even if they ended up trading KAT anyway, they still would have (had) Ant, Naz Reid, McDaniels, Kessler, and picks. The depth they traded to get Rudy is up for assumption.

  6. This happened with the Rudy trade. I know it looks bad now but give it a year and then evaluate. Media went from worst trade of all time to Minnesota are in the WCF.

  7. I think a lot of people don't give enough credit to one very important part of team building, which is how pieces work together. A good piece doesn't necessarily work in all situations, it's a very basic idea but it's one people often ignore in the heat of the moment which leads to trades like this. Randle and DiVincenzo aren't bad players but that doesn't mean they replace what Kat does in their scheme. Similarly Kat probably isn't exactly what the Knicks need although with how good he is they can hopefully either get him to fit or accommodate him.

  8. This the one team in the league right now I’m saying wait and see on. They haven’t figured it out yet. But I predict they have a much better second half. Just need some time

  9. Soon as ant can leave he bouncing theres no way they didnt ask him about this traded casue he definitely would have said hell nah lol KG right Glen Taylor a snake smh

  10. Soon as Anthony learned of the trade that sent Karl Anthony Townsend away he should have done like Kyrie in Cleveland and forced his way out because Karl is the only player that the joker couldn't push around like he does AD all of the time if he stays his career will be wasted 😎

  11. Knicks fan are happy about kick the ass of randle out of the team a selfish player overrated

  12. Gobert without Kat he cant do all the work in defense you lost kat but you loose gobert capability to focus on protect the rim too in that trade … randle is a bad player in defende and in offense is selfish what a bad trade they ruin their team how a gm can take that kind of decision and get pay to do that
