Ajax fits like a glove because when you have the highest scoring duo in the league and a roster filled with talented spacers like AJ Green, Taurean Prince, Gary Trent Jr (who's found his shot again), Brook Lopez and so on, you don't really NEED that much more offense. I've noticed that Doc will start Ajax and then swap him out for AJ Green for long stretches and I think I know why. The tone that Ajax sets is one of one. He CARES. And when you already have a Giannis out there who is a passionate winner, it makes it easy to set a few early stops and set a lead. AJ Green is just a better fit offensively though. Doc wants either Dame or Giannis to be on the floor 100% of the time, so AJ being a kickout that you can't sag off of makes it so those split minutes are hard to defend. Taking one of the stars AND having a non shooter will allow the opposing team to send 2 on the star (tbh with Giannis you could send five he's still probably dropping 30) and make the night harder for them.
I know it's fun to clown Doc. I for one was appalled when he took the job, but I realized quickly that I had been farmed by the media. Sure he had some bad stints or moments here and there, but let's not act like injuries and weak minded stars didn't tarnish a lot of runs. Embiid, Kawhi, PG, CP3 and Blake were walking medical bills and Ben Simmons just doesn't have that mental strength it seems. I'd like to commend his efforts to fix my surprisingly deep Bucks team and giving everyone an opportunity to shine. I genuinely think that Giannis and Dame are two of the most reliable stars(excluding freak injuries like Kevin Love hurting Giannis or the random tendonitis that held him out last playoffs). I trust them to bring us home at the end of games and I think mentally they're so strong and such good leaders. When we were down 2-8, sure the record looked bad, but the mentality didn't look like blame being [pushed around. It looked like a frustration with losing and a desire to make it work. 8 games later and I'd like to think we've started to make it work. We'd be 10-8 if the refs didn't give LaMelo a ghost foul.
Giannis is the best player in the East and top 2 with Jokic in the league (I have him 1, but I definitely understand people having him behind Jokic. That man is a MONSTER). The NBA runs through their stars, so I'm always going to have them favored. There is a genuine case to be made that they have the 2 best players in any given series in the East. Dame on his own was averaging 34 on 44% from 3 (12 attempts a game) in the playoffs, so all this "washed" nonsense is just media fodder to farm engagement. I'm taking Dame as a second option over any second option in the East. He's better than Maxey, Jalen Brown, Garland/Allen/Mobley (Cavs kinda have a mixed bag of options after their clear #1 in Mitch – regardless of his current form), and every human on the Knicks, Magic, Heat, Pacers so on so forth. What dame did to the nuggets during the bubble is something NONE of those guys have done. He's been a certified bucket and he's playing next to one of the most perfect complimentary pieces for him in the 2x MVP Giannis.
I know the record looks how it looks, but i'm picking the Bucks out the east over everyone. Celtics and Knicks look very scary, but once again: the NBA runs through its stars. Healthy Dame Giannis Khris is the best big 3 in the NBA

Pat Cannaugton got benched and the Bucks start winning. He shouldn’t get any PT.
