Trading Bane and Smart is the only thing that makes sense
We lost this one, but we'll see the Mavs several more times before the playoffs. Chalk this one as a learning tool. Go Grizzlies!
Smart did get hit in the face. His nose was bleeeeding after the play….
We choked, plain and simple! Players and coaches alike! Hopefully, we learn and get better. I believe we will. Players know they blew it
The Grizzlies folded. They aren't serious contenders right now. Good teams execute vs. quality competition and don't blow gms in that manner.
Watching Smart force shots, turn it over, and commit silly fouls as Taylor kept him in, gave me flashbacks of Dillon in '21 & '22.
Also, putting 6'11" Jaren in the corner like a spot up shooter, instead of in any action with ball handlers or in the post was an awful reminder of '22 as well.
I think it’s also fair to acknowledge that of the 0-4 games against above .500 win (healthy) teams in the west the grizzlies were missing at least one of the core 3 (Ja, Jaren, Desmond) in all but 1 (the mavs game)
Our inability to perform in the clutch is why we aren’t considered title contenders
Its not luck that the mavs hit 5/7 3s and we hit basically nothing. All the grizzlies looked like they were losing the entire 4th and the mavs were rolling and looked like the game was in the bag.
It's the same feeling watching the lakers go up against that sebian wall. Its like they already think they're gonna lose. The discipline just isn't there yet
