Jaylen Brown, Payton Pritchard, Sam Hauser step up, Boston Celtics beat Detroit Pistons

The Boston Celtics were missing Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday, but the rest of the team was like water, taking whatever form the Celtics needed in order to beat the Pistons. Jaylen Brown was especially good, getting close to a career-high with nine assists showing off his vision running the offense.

John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal gets into that, the huge games from Sam Hauser and Payton Pritchard, and the steady game from Kristaps Porzingis. Plus, Joe Mazzulla’s shorter rotation and how the Boston defense is shifting.

  1. How has been the quality of basketball from the Celtics lately? Haven't watched the games, but the last time I watched, it was brutal.
Go Celtics and go Queta! 🇵🇹💪

  2. No Jayson, no Jrue, no problem. I love JT and JH…. but this game shows how stacked and deep this team is.

  3. I giggled when JB did the "cut throat" neck gesture. Winning 2 MVP titles and a ring has brought him out of a quiet, introverted persona. Fun seeing him blow kisses at the crowd and poking at Nike.

  4. The Undertaker would be proud of JB tonight 🤣 Was a little disappointed that they let Detroit come all the way back. There’s going to be nights when shots don’t fall and they’ll have to do much better on defense when teams climb back like that. Granted l, no Jrue tonight who is obviously a big part of our defense. Anyway this team is an absolute offensive juggernaut-10x so when KP is healthy. I compare him to KG. Not so much energy wise but they’re just on a whole different level when guys like that are on the floor. Thanks John

  5. I laughed out loud as you said who doesn’t want to take a lot of shots and my brain 🧠 thought “except Ben Simmons” exactly as you said it lol 😂
    Love the pod

Hope the Cs 🍀🏀🍀 really can turn on the Defense when they need it

    Not very worried but watching

  6. I love relaxing games like this. That said the three pointers the Pistons were getting were 100% due to lack of effort. When JB did that between the legs pass behind him I knew our foot was off the gas.
