Lakers Lose 134-93 to Heat: Redick, LeBron & AD Call the Performance “Embarrassing”
It went from bad to worse for the Lakers.
Outscored by 29 Monday in Minnesota, the purple and gold followed that up on Wednesday with a 41-point loss in Miami. And if we’re all being honest, the game didn’t seem as close as the score might indicate.
Miami was basically working against warm up levels of defensive resistance all night. It might seem like they caught lightning in a bottle to hit a scorching 24-47 from beyond the arc, but these are professionals. About 35-40 of those hoists were, if not totally uncontested, so mildly contested that it didn’t really matter. NBA players, left to shoot open 3-pointers in rhythm, are going to make more than they miss.
The Lakers played like they were unsure if they were allowed to even cross the 3-point line in order to contest some of these looks. The level of compete, as JJ Redick likes to talk about, was so low you wonder if the (metaphorical) tools designed measure it could even detect something. There is a certain level of effort and commitment to detail that an NBA must hit if they want to avoid… 41 point losses. The Lakers weren’t anywhere close.
And after the game, JJ Redick called it “embarrassing.” LeBron James and Anthony Davis used the same word.
But the thing is, they didn’t play like they were embarrassed. They just kinda went through the motions, like a balloon with all the air sucked out. “Embarrassing” is a good word for this game, and for the performance of Davis (3-14 in 31 minutes). We noted after the Monday’s loss that the Lakers simply aren’t built to win when Davis doesn’t produce on one end or the other (and preferably both).
We’ll see how they respond. The only good news of the day: With the Lakers out of NBA Cup contention, they’ll have a stretch coming after the weekend where they play twice in 10 days.
They’ll need to simultaneously use that time to heal, but also to practice and learn. It’s a lot, but then again, the Lakers have a whole lot to address.

Great promo
It's not Orlando, Denver broked you and u know it… It's beautiful I must admit 🙂↕️😏
Lakers fired Darvin Ham for nothing. He wasn't the problem and that was obvious. Lebron James, player/coach/GM all rolled into one made it happen lol. He also got his son drafted. So hilarious that the Lakers let Lebron run the team like this.
Lebron era is not over to 6 championships
People are missing the issue. The roster is NOT good enough.
Lakers bench scored 28 Miami bench scored 51.
Who the hell are the lakers bench guys?
Maxwell Lewis?
Armed Traore?
Can reddish?
Christian Koloko?
Gabe Vincent?
Trash trash trash trash. A bunch f guys that haven’t proven 💩
Lebron being forced to play the 4 has been a problem..He doesnt want to do the dirty work that a normal power forward does.. Thats putting to much pressure on AD to have to do everything on the defensive end. Plus Rui is a bad fit in that line up. He needs to come off of the bench.. They needed to keep their best defensive player in the starting line up Cam… Cant have a back court that cant keep nobody in front of them
embarrassed
adjective
Feeling uneasily or unpleasantly self-conscious due to some event or circumstance.
LeBron was stat padding all game it's sad to see man. Call it out
Labron is still a great player for his age BUT he’s taking up all our cap space that could be used for younger talented players
Atlanta loves it. New Orleans no longer cares
AD needs be stopped from being compared to good players. He’s been less than average for days.
Lebron the worst thing that happened to the Lakers. Destroyed the team and the league.
Kobe would have never let this happen. Le China is the worse teammate on any team. Never wanted this clown on my Lakers from the get go. Fricken Jennie and her cohorts are really the blame. Sell the team miss Buss, so we can get back to respectabilty.
Lestatpad in the game down 30+ in the 4th was hilarious 😂
Let's get real. It's a bad team led by a player that is losing the war against Father Time.
Are you two blind ? Lakers are missing FOUR rotation players ! Vando, Wood, AR and Hayes. Thats 2 starters and 2 best bench guys.
Who's D do the lakers suck tomorrow..? Im sure that team can use the pleasuring. The lakers really get down on their knees lately and really get in there like a pro.
Let Lakers fans released from this lebum virus era
LeBron’s turnovers were 🤯🤯😱🫣🗑️
Rob should check with the warriors and see if they’re still interested in LeBron
LeBron should retire after this season. He is on the downside of his career which is obvious after 22 years. He isn't going to win another ring. He doesn't need the money. He already got to play a bit with his son who never should have been on the Lakers when they are more qualified players to be in that spot. He already padded his stats enough. I don't hate LeBron but to me he was always the enemy of the Lakers and Kobe so when he became a Laker I was like wtf. He has had a good run. For good or bad he made his mark. Time to let it go.
Fix: Tear it down to the studs, rebuild it now. FO out, LeBully gone, get draft picks for AD, keep JJ. Pelinka out, Rambii's out, if Jeannie doesn't grow a pair than sale the team, hell bring in Danny Ainge to rebuild it, even if it takes 5 years. Look at Boston, OKC, Houston. Now! Please. Lebron has held the Lakers hostage for 6 damn years. It's never been about the Laker legacy it's only been about Lebron's Legacy, don't tell me that Bronny is an NBA player, no longer drinking the koolaid. I bet if I got Kambros, James Worthy, Robert Horry, Mychal Thompson in a room and they all really told the truth, they would agree. I get it, got to feed your families. This has gotten beyond ridiculous. 6 years and counting, Lebron won't run JJ's offense and he hasn't played defense since he got here. Everyone is always looking for defensive stoppers to come in and cover his ass. Done with this mess. I feel sorry for JJ having to deal with this passive aggressive brat man-child. Just leave and go to a diddy party. Sicko.
So what I've been hearing from everyone and myself included is that the Lakers are a bad defensive team , why not just run a basic zone defense , Everytime down and make slight adjustments to it during the game, they are already giving up wide open 3s with this horrible defense they are playing I guarantee it won't be this bad giving up 130+ points a game .
Anthony Davis should not be at the Top of Key playing defense, that’s too far away from his weakside shot-blocker responsibilities. Need 6’8 Cam Reddish’s aggressive 1-on-1 perimeter defense at the Top of Key.
The fact they'll know full well it's an inadequate surely has a lot to do with the way their heads go down so quickly when a few shots are missed
