Are the Mavs an NBA title contender? Why Tim Legler believes they can be | DLLS Sports

ALLCITY analyst Tim Legler joins the show to give his thoughts on Luka Doncic’s improved form since his return from injury, the value P.J. Washington provides as a do-it-all forward alongside Luka and Kyrie Irving, the Mavs’ incredible depth, and how the Dallas Mavericks can win the NBA championship.

  1. I love how universally loved Legs is. He is one of the most respected names in basketball to the fans. He actually watches games, and he watches the film. He is the man!

  2. All Mavs fans, i hope you're enjoying these years. These are the good old days, right here right now.

We have a deep roster around Luka for the first time. Nobody is having more fun than us!

  3. I don’t think Clay Thomason is contributing as much as the other guys, Gafford, Lively, Washington, Dinwiddie, Grimes, Marshall and Hardy. Go Mavs Go.

  4. Credit to Kyrie Irving who helped lead the team thru those 6 games without Luka. The team dug themselves out of the hole they were in and they won 5 out of 6 games, which sparked the winning streak they’re on now. Kyrie’s presence, leadership and being a floor general made a huge impact during that stretch. He attracts so much attention (being double and triple teamed in basically every game) that allowed the role players get open shots, gain confidence and find their roles. Just wanted to give him a shout out since he wasn’t talked about much 🙂

The role players were Huge in that stretch too and they showed how deep the team is!

  5. With Luka playing now full strength and now understand the roster that he has. The only thing left is Klay and his shot, hopefully now that can fall in line with the pressure gravitating to Luka. I heard some say replace Klay with Naji, but I think he better to be on the bench for the spark when Luka or Kyrie is not on the floor.

  6. I'm tired of people making excuses for these soft players about not being ready for the beginning of the season. Luka makes over 40 million a year to play basketball you better be ready day 1. That is part of your job to be ready to do what they pay you to do. These players are so soft its insane.

  7. Truly truly, if klay can find confidence in his shot and get back to shooting efficiently than this team will be almost unbeatable in a 4 game series if everyone is healthy and our depth remains the same.

  8. It's crazy that Tim literally said they same EXACT thing I been telling people and I was called a Luka hater or not a real fan etc.. 😂😂😂😂 I told people it didn't look like Luka was in shape and kinda holding the Mavs back as well due to his injuries because he couldn't push the ball up the court.. He also being more ball dominate because he was forcing his way to get back in his groove etc.. I said a couple years ago if the Mavs can become a fast pace team they will be way better.. At one point they was ranked 28th in pace which is hella slow and didn't have a good record.. As soon as they started playing faster and made that trade with PJ & Gaff they went to being ranked top 7 in pace and started killing teams.. I tell people the pace of the game makes a HUGE difference… All I said was Luka has to push the pace and he'll see how great this team really is.. Because Grimes & NaJi is a upgrade from Green & Jones and they proving it EASILY..

  9. No mention of Kyrie despite him leading the team but of course Luka was the main topic tho he missed most of the games in this streak. Legler is obsessed with Luka smh

  10. It's so simple….Derrick Jones jr , Josh Green and Tim Hardaway JR out… Grimes, Thompson, Dinwidee and Marshall in. The ball handling passing and shooting is miles better

  11. No one listened to Kidd….. In August he made note of all the new pieces he has and said that it will be January until they gel as a team….. and Luka's rest/injury gave him the chance to play with all sorts of crazy line-ups without him….. But the real strength of this team now is not only the chemistry that has developed, but we are DEEP! …. and you cannot remove a single piece on this team and NOT screw it up!! I continue to repeat the team slogan now….. STAY THE COURSE!! ….. 'cuz you ain't seen nuttin' yet!!!

  12. I think Luka needs to finally get real about his fitness. I think if he'd come back fighting fit at the start of the season they'd have had a much better start.

  13. Hey, Kevin, where is the Kyrie appreciation? He helped lead this team through those games. Go Mavs.

  14. didn't legs have a season where he hit the most 3's more then anyone andisn't he like 8th all-time in 3's made?

  15. So basically, Team with 4 new players needed to get comfortable and gel, and Luka came in injured and lacking a full training camp. Coupled with PJ and Lively being out for injuries early on, so of course defense was shaky.

  16. I never had a doubt about these mav’s, Luka historically plays himself into shape and grimes and Klay needed time to adjust, their core that took them to the finals is still there and they added some serious depth.
