Kenny Atkinson was telling his team to foul every time the Celtics got the ball after Payton Pritchard hit that three to put them within 1.
He knew that Boston was due to hit a 3 in open court if they were down three, so he did what any coach would do–foul intentionally and make them earn it at the free throw line.
Smart move by the Cavs coach, but this still doesn't move anything. Boston is still the better team.

Wow… CAVS elite .. maybe not getting past the Celtics this year but probably a 7 game series. Dean Wade needs Luke Travers to take over his DNPs … Tyson take Okoro/Levert DNPs .. just gotta play bigger forwards with DG&Spida .. Jerome& Spida / DG & Okoro both starting quality backcourt splits for matchups like when we bench Allen for more shooting and spacing, but better defense and offensive efficiency against BOS OKC ATL. Versatility team with humility to be dangerous and vibe all together as a rotating onslaught of cavalier basketball.
They've watched maybe MAYBE 2 Cavs games this season, and have the audacity to speak on them…
The Cavs are 2nd to absolutely NO ONE. The Celtics are not better.
The Celtics choked for years, underachieving along the way, and finally won 1, finally. Now they are unbeatable. Do these guys even follow or know basketball? I supose they should win it all and anything short of winning it all is a failure but this group has repeatedly choked so we'll see.
The problem with the NBA Universe is defining the word "contender." It's become erroneously synonymous with "favorite." You can still say or believe that Boston is the favorite and Cleveland/ORL/NYK are contenders. To say that the Cavs are not a contender is foolhardy and/or ignorant. NBA media either need to to find a new word for contender or learn what the word means: "a person or group that competes against others to win something; contestant:

The annoying part of the "they didn't have DW and JB and were still in it" is that we didn't have Levert, Strus, Merril, Wade and Okoro, essentially half of our bench.

This was tiresome, particularly from Parsons. I didn’t hear any of these talking heads making an excuse for the Cavaliers when they came to Boston two weeks ago with only eight healthy players — including zero SFs — and lost by three. Also, we get it: you think the Celtics will repeat in the East. Say something new.
