I miss Dejoiunte in San Antonio. Hate that he left and in retrospect he should have stayed but no love lost. Served the team well when he was here. Wish him nothing but the best.
Problem is Mitch is not ready for prime time. Can't waste Victor's development giving a rookie HC an opportunity. Monty Williams needs to be hired and he is living in San Antonio (pray for us). As a former Spurs player and asst coach, Monty knows the culture and the system. He had a great run in Phoenix. The dysfunctional Pistons organization was an anomaly.

Dejounte still one of my favorite players in the NBA
Watching him comeback from his acl injury was special. when the media said he’d never play the same again, he got the all star nod and averaged a triple dub with 2stls per game. Easily one of the best two way players in spurs history. Duncan David Kawhi DJ, sean , and bruce. Watching him and Kawhi dominate the league after being told they could never was priceless.
Wait. Mitch Johnson was helping Dejounte when he was 15? That means Mitch was about 24 at the time. I wondered how they crossed paths. Had to look both of them up on Wikipedia. Mitch started his coaching career in Seattle, where Dejounte grew up, so they crossed paths there, probably when Mitch served as a coach for an AAU team in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. Cool story and nice of Dejounte to bring that up so that he can credit Mitch for being a positive influence when he guards his private life as much as he can.
He needs to go back to San Antonio. That’s like his second home
DJ will be a spur for life in my book and any haters out there towards DJ are really just taking quotes and running with them without knowing what really went down in SA. Much love DJ!
