  1. I'm a Laker fan but I'm a tremendous respect for the Celtics. There's no team like the Boston Celtics without Red Auerbach. He is the reason why the Celtics became a storied franchise.

  2. This was disrespectful from the royals manager to give five thousand cigars to fans because nobody smokes cigars after a win except for red Auerbach.

  3. As a diehard lakers fan I hate the Celtics because of the rivalry but I respect the Celtics history and my lakers will sweep the Celtics in the 2025 finals💜💛🏀.

  4. When he lit that cigar, it meant the game was over. Not as many colorful players today. Boston even had a "muscle man" – Jungle Jim Loscutoff. Get physical with Boston and "Jungle Jim" got physical with you. Bob Cousy changed the game. Boston Celtics were my favorite team for years. Gave my granddaughter an old Celtic jacket. When she told me what it was worth I about fell over.

  5. Brad Steven’s reminds me of Red and his ability to talk circles around teams to get the players he wanted. That’s why the squad we have now is amazing, all thanks to brads genius

  6. Finally a video about Auerbach! This man is part of the foundation of basketball and does not get enough credit for what he did. Every basketball fan should know this mans name.

  7. Bill Sharman wasn’t drafted by the Celtics he was traded for chuck share by the fort wayne pistons. They acquired him in the dispersal draft after his first season with the Washington capitals

  8. the crazy part for Red is that if Len Bias and Reggie Lewis don't die, his run of winning with the Celtics extends through the 90s

  9. Joe Mazzulla does a great job instilling the values and work ethic of Red in these current Celtics players

  10. Shows you the difference one man who knows basketball can make – while I do love ML Carr, he would not have been my choice to run the key decisions in the 90s.

  11. The game changes and coaches can't cope with the changes but to think this guy could understand the game and the talents 40 years later is insane. Literally a one of a kind mind in the sport

  12. The 1980 trade could be called the most one-sided in the history of organized sports. But what comes close, which could've also been mentioned, was the DJ/Robey deal. The picks involved ended up giving the C's Greg Kite and the Suns Rod Foster. Robey and Kite were a wash as players, but obviously Kite was much younger, so the C's made out there too. So they essentially got DJ, a vital part of the next 2 championships, for a role player who unfortunately also had a short career due to injury.
