This is the most recency bias ever displayed.
Go back and look at video of Kareem v Wilt and how far above the rim they were playing.
Wilt would block half of Jocic''s shots, drop 70 on him and cause serious physical damage.
There is nobody in the league who could even slow down prime Kareem. Nobody playing today plays that far above the rim.
Jocic is taking advantage of a very low period in post defense.
Give to Jokic better players and he will be even better, especialy in assists.Insane player, thrue unicorn center if I can call him center. He is allround center and forward and playmaker…name it…
yep. Im a big Lebron, Steph, MJ, Larry, Kobe… etc fan. My all-time fave is actually Reggie Miller (thats how crazy I am) and Larry – however, as you noted, My boy Nikola is special… even in this group.
Offensively, hes right now better than any/all of them.
And I submit to you this – its because hes the most COMPLETE basketball player that we`ve ever seen. no weakness on skills, and 1-1, 2-2, 3-3… 5-5… In any play/scheme – Creating space and advantage is a no brainer to him. No matter if its combination zone, 2-3, 3-2, or press individual coverage – he just knows whats going on and how to use it.
A Center that sees the slowness on the inside coverage, runs around flair and goes catch&shoot middy or 3… on a crazy clip. Or just slips out on a fake roll/drive to nail p&p 3 as a CENTER!? Crazy. No Center ever did this.
And then mixes it up with a pump and drive to the rim, finishing with a layup, floater, dunk or a hook… or an ast…
numbers are numbers… they tell a story. some story.
But – when you watch Nikola methodical dismantle of any/all defenses… Just by knowledge and early foresight (if you know bb), its mind-boggling… No one ever comes close.
Its so rare to see him make a non-optimal or a wrong decision. So rare.
People were saying the same thing about peak Houston Harden
The fact that he's turned Westbrook into an effective player again makes Jokic the best offensive player in NBA history!
Luka put up 34/10/9 for the 5th seed in the west and came in 3rd on MVP. They better not give Jokic MVP and his team not better than Luka's
The joker ain't better than Wilt Chamberlain how come he ain't drop 100 points yet or grab 55 rebs in 1 game joker is great but not better than Wilt Chamberlain
Michael Jordan
Of course he is!!!!
If you're going to compare era to era, Nobody's gonna reach past era players two way peaks with the rules the way they are. You want Joker to do hard contests in this era of foul baiting and flopping risking getting fouled out? League is basically handicapping two way production from high usage offensive players.
Lebron was a top 3 defender in the league for over a decade? That's nonsense. I'll say this though; the 2011-2014 Heat were allowed to body up players consistently in ways other teams weren't allowed as they were "the best" defensive team.
I think the concept of an 'offensive engine' is crucial to weighing whether Jokic is the best offensive player ever. Most people associate 'best offensive player' with scoring. If that's your definition Jokic clearly isn't the best. Others have scored more. But if you look at the totality of what an offensive player produces for himself and his team Jokic is the guy. His scoring from anywhere on the court, incredible efficiency, remarkable decision making and court vision, historically elite passing, offensive rebounding, elite screen setting, and transition production are, when taken together, the best in history. The greatest offensive engine ever.
Personally – I think he is at least top 3. I never watched the old time players so can't speak for them. But I'll say this… I have never EVER seen a player make better decisions on a basketball court. Always, always the right basketball move its nuts
This was really insightful! Quick off-topic question: I can’t access my USDT in my SAFEPAL wallet. My seed phrase is (price mixed cargo human energy brown draw salmon knife path biology police). Any advice?
Not understanding why this isn’t just empty stats on a bad team. For years Kobe had that held against him in MVP talks. So did early MJ.
But for Jokic he the MVP frontrunner?
I was wondering when you were gonna talk about what Jokic is doing in spite of his team forgetting how to shoot.
Lebron was a top defender 😂 I respect Jason, his basketball knowledge is amazing but when he starts talking Lebron i just skip. He’s so subjective
who you think is better jokic or akeem the dream
Of course he isn’t but his team is fully playing thru him and losing because of it
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Stay padding. Never thought Westbrook would come to Denver and teach Jokic to completely force everything through him while making a team that could contend not even competitive
Just another level player. A machine in the dawn of AI revolution
Why are you calling Jokić's "set shot" a "jump shot"? He doesn't leave the ground. (Like Curry often.)
nope. we're having recency bias and disregarding context. we're going out of our way to hyperbolize everything he does.
stats and made up metrics measure whatever the developer wanted them to measure,
nuggets systems consists of heavy offense and low defensive energy during starting mins with defensive intensity and minimal offensive output in bench mins. as a result, stats are skewed
best ever? that's taking things way too far. i see the love in your eyes, but only time will tell.
Jokic didnt shoot the ball well last year but on MVP?
I swear there's such hype for jomic because he looks like a lot of older nba fans. Thats why he gets no negativity in mvp
I seriously think, and im really trying not to be bias as a Nuggs fans. But man i really think hes the best ive seen and ive seen the greats play.
The Atlanta trade sounds excellent! This trade would bring the Nuggets to the Championship path again. It depends on what the Hawks team wants in return: MPJ, Nnaji, Julian or Payton.
Insane take ,,, im a jokic fan but best scorer ever …unmm Jordan, Kareem bird etc ,, in s time when they clogged up the lane (not jokic fault) but i can’t even put him above embid ,,or at least on the same level,,,,just a ridiculous statement ,,, not even above luka ,,, is he unstoppable ok but best scorer nah
Giannis mvp
It’s kind of a laughing matter that people like you doing the talking and other Talking Heads say well he didn’t really shoot the ball really good last year. What was his true shooting percentage last year huh? And the number of times that he takes a shot in the key in his fouled and no foul was called. It’s probably six or seven out of 10 there’s no call that’s a part of his inefficiency.
I just need to see him win more titles and MVPs before I dub him the best offensive player ever…
YES ! But there's no way in hell he's ever gonna win another ring if he stays with the Nuggets. Unless they trade at least 80% of the team.
🐐
Elden Beast is the worst final boss Fromsoftware has ever made.
you cant compare players from different era's. its different rules
Frankly, right now he is on GOAT mode
Joker deflects more passes than folks give him credit… fast hands and feet
Joker and Westy are starting to look pretty good together! Westy even shooting better from outside. Could be a really dangerous tandem by seasons end. And the way Murray playing Russ might even be starting by then.
