Hornets’ Path to .500 | Mark Williams’ Comeback | Magic Show What Charlotte is Missing

In today’s episode of Locked On Hornets, we break down the crucial upcoming stretch of games for the Charlotte Hornets and how it could shape the rest of their season. With matchups against teams like Chicago, Washington, and Philadelphia, the Hornets face a critical test that could determine their ability to stay in play-in contention. But can they survive without LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, or Mark Williams at full strength?

Doug Branson and Walker Mehl discuss the challenges of this stretch and the opportunities it presents, including winnable games against teams like Detroit and Washington. The duo also examines Mark Williams’ return from injury, evaluating his recent performances and potential impact on the team’s defense and offense. Additionally, we compare the Hornets to the Orlando Magic, exploring why the Magic have thrived while the Hornets have struggled in similar situations.

Don’t miss our deep analysis, listener questions from the Sicko Satchel, and a look at what’s next for the team. Plus, Doug and Walker share their hopes for how the Hornets can weather this storm and get back on track.

  1. Even if they were fully healthy and firing on all cylinders, the Hornets aren’t going 34-24 for the rest of the season. That record, extrapolated over a full season, would be equivalent to a 48-win season. And that was a stretch of the imagination even during the preseason period of optimism.

  2. The only good thing to come out of this season is that every single decision Jeff Pederson has made has been the right one.

  3. I reckon if everyone was healthy we would be a top contender for the play-offs not just the play in we almost beat the cavs with our 5th string players the top team would have handed their ass to them on a platter lol

  4. Trade idea – Financially it works and personally fitment I think works for both teams as well.
Charlotte: Cody Martin (+Picks if need be)
Golden State: Johnathan Kuminga (+Picks if need be)
Broken down – JK has had somewhat of a fallout with the Warriors organisation, and coaches. With Cody joining, would add some high level defence, shot making and the ability to do a bit of everything.

JK coming to charlotte would be a stretch forward who for lack of better comparrisions is a more athletic version of PJ Washington, who we know worked well. JK would be well used to a 5 out offence after coming from GSW, assisting with the speed of Gelling with the team.

  5. 2nd trade idea.
CHA: Grant Williams, Vasilije Micic, Nick Smith Jr
    WAS: Kyle Kuzma

CHA assertain a tall shooting big in Kuzma. Which personally I think could be really good in our new system. Having a full line of players taller than 6'6. Melo, Miller, Bridges, Kuz & M Williams.
Washington take on the contract of Grant – Dispite being hurt. Vasa can go to a team and play larger minutes at PG or become trade bait and NSJ is to sweeten the deal.

  6. Mark what was his first injury his back then hurt his ankle comes back and now I see back on injury list with ankle just gonna say it he came back to early and reinjured his exsiting pain if he keeps this trend he will be out more than he plays he's Def no mourning the games he played was avg sure he rebounded but what big guy doesn't his shooting/tip ins was horrible he hasn't done anything special trade him imo

  7. .500 lol this team has already blown it up. Instead of taking action, the Hornets are wishing that their main stars get healthy. Or that they lose enough to get a draft pick. When really their main stars are 23 and 22. The Hornets are clearly tanking but will not lose enough to get the number 1 pick. If im lamelo or Miles Bridges, Trae Mann what are you playing for? The classic case of they think the grass is greener on the other side.
