CJ = BB + DM both they could sign reasonable or let walk. CJ bad contract we would have to get Bucks 2027 first and Charlotte 2027 second round. We could try and move CJ again or at this year’s draft for future asset. This lets N. O. Sign BI for $11 mil more. N.O. Loses Off but gets better Def.
When can they begin to trade? Or is it open now and closes in Mid February…apologies…confused.

I would do Herb J = Chris B + 2025 Port 2nd pick + Tor 2026 second. They could use help at PF and maybe sign Chris for $5 and use money to sign BI

If it means getting a pick or picks to take on CJ’s contract why not, its not about CJ the player, its about us being a contract dumping spot like OKC has done to get assets

The Raptors and the Pelicans are 100% talking for certain – but it's not on CJ per se; though if he got tossed in one of the conversations it would not be a surprise. Raps are actively looking to pry Zion Williamson loose – full stop. They would talk Ingram if his contract demands weren't unrealistically high (they are) and Zion weren't available (but he actually has become so) CJ only comes into play as a salary dump for NO in a Zion Deal – and that would require the Raps sending a starter too along with Brown and Boucher – Likely Quickley would be the ask – which helps the optics of a deal for Zion improve for NO; but doesn't make sense a huge amount of sense for Toronto as Zion ia a risk still. All it does is t to make CJ next year's Bruce Brown to get dangled around the league as a a 33M expiring…….
Just a deal for CJ….. Extremely unlikely. Raps need another guard like a submarine needs a sunroof
That would be the deal you make on deadline day when there is nothing else left and you still have Brown and Boucher on the roster and NO throws in a 2nd round pick or 2.

Pelicans want to trade CJ. He is under contract for 32 million. There is no scenario where this makes sense for Raptors unless the Pelicans include their unprotected first in 2025 draft, which is not happening
@benrogers i think you dont think outside the box when you are wondering why pelicans players in mccolllum or ingram are included into in raptors trade rumors. the reality is the biggest hole on the pelicans is a starting 7 ft defensive center, and they want jakob poeltl.
so there is no trade with pelicans mccollum or ingram where jakob poeltl is not going to pelicans. they dont want boucher or brown.
even the ingram to grizzlies trades in summer included the raptors cuz the pelicans want jakob poeltl.
@benrogers the reason why the pelicans want to trade mccolumn is because they can get max value for him this year. so jakob and a young player and filler, or jakob filler and a raptors 1st for mccolum. reason being expiring contracts only worth two 2nds now in new cba. and likely the pelicans resign jakob where mccollum wont resign in toronto unless they give him another 30 plus million a year contract for 4 years. its the toronto market thats why. players wont sign in toronto unless they vastly overpay for them for good players. so 38 million a year for 4 years should get mccollum to resign in toronto.
Whoever keeps giving Ben money to make the bet that gets the Raptors on these lists needs to stop! It's driving him nuts! He doesn't understand how betting odds work!
I think they may trade immanuel quickley for Cj and their first round pick … cj price tag may be high …

Not a chance we add a 33 year old defensive liability. Especially when we are grooming Dick/walters. I would be shocked if Toronto made a trade for him. From my view it makes zero sense.
