Clearly disagree with the article, a bad shooter hurt the team offense, not because he can't score, but because everyone of his teammates will have harder time to score (because of the spacing, Sochan's defender will clog the paint or double anyone freely) Basketball is a TEAM sport, scoring individualy is not enough to W, if you hurt everyone of your teammates by not spacing the floor for them
Shooting have nearly nothing to do with individual scoring, but by keeping your defender honest outside he'll not be able to overhelp or clog the paint.
Sochan is our KAT. Tradable but will take a heavy blow. As long as he don't ask for an all-star contract, keep him. He is not the pippen of wemby as clan glaze him to be. He's more of a manu, the goat of 6th man.
Tim> wemby TP> castle Manu> sochan D. Green> Vassell
If we got flagg or AJ and develop good, we might have our kawhi(w/o the drama)
I love his attitude. He wants to win. This Season he is a way better Rebounder because he fights for every possession. His shot is a problem here and there. But I think he is young so he can improve. He brings a lot of things to the Spurs which are not on the Scoreboard. Keep him for a long time. He is a part of a bright future.
Just FYI atm Spurs D is ranked #16 this season… It was #8 before Sochan and Devin came back to the rotation. Sochan Defensive ratings are exactly league average atm (and ranked 8th on Spurs roster….. yes 7 players have better D ratings than him), far far far from elite, but so much better than Devin and KJ.
My point is, outside of Wemby elite D, the team is still not good on D… Sochan included. So talking about the importance of D…. I'm clearly ok with that, but that's absolutely not how Spurs roster was built (outside of Wemby …. and Bassey.)
๐ฐFor Castle it's to soon to tell, atm he's below league average on D, some lack of focus and rookie mistakes, but his highlights on D looks great, time will tell I guess.
Also when you say he's the best defensive player on the Spurs remember were in a rebuild and with his defensive competition on our team that's not exactly super duper hard to do with the exception of wemby
Our whole team with the exception of Vic, vassell, castle and cp Is absolutely full of players who would do good off of the bench we barely have starter quality players
Funny ending. I'm not sure it's time to move on already, but if he can't change his slow and clunky shooting form, his value will drop every year. ATM he's valuable as an asset (lot of team could be interested at a fair price). Next season if he still can't shoot and didn't improve on D, not so sure.
Potential is still definitely here, but each season could change "potential" to "liability". Trading him to another team and seeing him fulfill all his potential would be heartbreaking (like Bulls with Markkanen) so I'm very happy to not be the GM and not taking that responsability either way.
Sochan has clearly climb a step offensively this year. Of course he will never be a 3-point shooter (his FT percentage doesn't indicate that he can acquire this skill) but he can now score closed to the rim with a better efficiency. He is also very good to get offensive rebounds, which is as much important as shooting at 3 as it will give more opportunities for Wemby to shoot at 3 !!! However, except Sochan, the PF spot is a desert for the Spurs. Barnes is not a PF but more a SF as he is not a good rebounder. The interim coach seems not to like Mamu because he is not getting minutes despite good performances. It is why Sochan should be in the starting lineup for the next two/three years. He is so young that he can still develop until 24/25. And if he is becoming Dennis Rodman 2.0, who cares if he can shoot at 3 or not… Other players will do.
However the 2026 draft should be dedicated to the frontcourt in order to replace in the midterm (two years) the bad tadem Zach Collins/Keldon Johnson. Except Khaman Maluach, there are no good centers in the 2015 draft and the Spurs draft picks are currently too low to get Khaman. The 2025 draft shouldn''t then help to find a backup to Wemby. The Spurs organization will have to find him by attracting a vet at the 2023 free agency (Brook Lopez, Clint Capela, Miles Turner, Steven Adams, Santi Aldama, Kevon Looney and many others are free agents this summer. Let's bring a better option than Zach Collins, who is this year just CATASTROPHIC. If we cannot trade him, just put him at the very end of the bench to play the garbage time. I know, 18M$ for the garbage time, this hurts… but…). For the 10th to 15th pick, there are lots of SF and PF available to draft. With two (perhaps three if Chicago starts to perform) picks this summer, we could get Asa Newell (Georgia) or JT Toppin (Texas Tech) or Liam McNeeley (UConn) or Collin Murray-Boyles (South Carolina) or Noa Essengue (France),… The Spurs really need to be deeper in the frontcourt next year if they want to target the place 8th to 5th in the western conference.
People who don't appreciate Sochan just don't know basketball. He was the guy that started this rebuild. He gave us hope prior to Wemby coming to the team
My starting 5 is Bassey Wemby Julian Vassell and cp3. Like Sean Elliott said, he wants to see bassey and Wemby on the floor at the same time. Ain't nobody scoring in the paint with that line up. Collins Jerremy Barnes Keldon and Castle ioff the bench.
Why yโall hating on home-grown talent? In my dream scenario every player whom we drafted would stay for good, and get developed into a super-good role player.
All the best teams in the nba right now are top 10 in defense, defense is where it needs to start a line up of castle wemby and jermy in the future is going to be a nightmare for the opposing team offensively
Just wanted to make a new comment saying I appreciate the title change that is more in line with the content of the video, which I fully agree with. Good stuff TSR!
Sochan does have a lot of intangibles but man his shooting form is atrocious. Theres such a delay in his release it allows the slowest closeout defenders to get there and block his shot. Chip Englland please come back and help this guy! Lol
Hell no don't get rid of the Sochan. I remember in your chat livestreams of games at the beginning of the season we were throwing around MOST IMPROVED PLAYER for Sochan because of his work ethic and his clearly improved finishing ability (again, at the beginning of the season). And yes, hes still 21. He needs to stay on this team. Let him develop.
Many current "Spurs fans" actually don't know shit about basketball. Most of these so called fans are just bandwagonning on Wemby filthy casuals who think the game is all about 3 pointers
My problem with Sochan is that he was in the same class as Jalen Williams, and the OKC star is on the verge of becoming an all-star. Jeremy is not showing any improvement. He can't make an easy layup. But, okay, he's a good defender.
I've been watching the Spurs for 30 years. Sochan is Spurs af. One of the Spursiest Spurs, to ever Spur…. and he thrives on the hate, lol. He feeds on it! .. Let the haters keep feeding him.

Do you think Jeremy is part of our future? Thanks for watching and GO SPURS GO!

I like his development thus far. He's only 21 yrs old and we get plenty for the price we're paying him.

I appreciate the authenticity of keeping the bloopers at the end. Did it break?
Of course we need him

Look damn it he's good on defense…..but that's all he's not consistent in any other field so for a well rounded player
Ship him out
Nice green hair Buddy !

So sick of people talking about his defensive prowess like that's all it takes to be a good basketball player the guy shooting percentages are awful
Those who wanted to get rid of Sochan shows their basketball ignorance. Ppl who donโt know anything like to work their jaws lol Bozos
Our whole team with the exception of Vic, vassell, castle and cp

Rich, do you follow Alamo City Podcast Network? They are not Sochan fans. Don't want him starting or playing significant minutes.

No one talks about it, but Devin Vassell is also jacked right now. The entire team looks jacked relative to last year
I enjoy watching him wearing #10, I have a #10 Rodman jersey and going to get #10 Sochan soon.
My starting 5 is Bassey Wemby Julian Vassell and cp3. Like Sean Elliott said, he wants to see bassey and Wemby on the floor at the same time. Ain't nobody scoring in the paint with that line up.

Yes, Jeremy still developing he provides the nasty pop likes in the game

fans should pray for a healthy Spurs team
Keldon's criticism is b/c his "D" is average at best.
Sochan should be starting. If the coaching staff cannot design an offense with JS starting, then they are incompetent.
Rich Jones, Mario Ellie, Bruce Bowen, Jeremy Sochan. The best teams have those kind of STARTERS.
All the best teams in the nba right now are top 10 in defense, defense is where it needs to start a line up of castle wemby and jermy in the future is going to be a nightmare for the opposing team offensively

Looking like a clown on this picture ๐๐๐
He is hard working, skilled, and does a lot of the scrappy dirty work to get things done. Tired of people giving him so much shit.
Yes it's time to say GOODBYE to Jeremy
Lol what a ending
Most People are stupid
