I don't think that's why they kept Fernando. It's all down to Kelly being hurt. Don't forget, Bruno's contract is back to non-guaranteed till January too so they can let him go whenever they want. Maybe they cut bait when Olynyk is back.

Jak's a good C. But let's face it, he's not "Marc Gasol holding Embiid to zero points" good. He hasn't exactly shut down the big C's we've been playing in three of the first five games. I think other teams have scouting/analytics departments that can figure this stuff out. Nice theory, tho'. Excellent points about our defenceless scorers. Not addressing this issue this season may be part of our stealth tank.
i like the "conspiracy theory" theory. but at the end of the day.. everything comes down to money. i read that fernando won the 15th spot because he agreed to a non-guaranteed contract after the trade deadline. they can just get rid of him if they choose to do so without salary implications. which once again, masai keeps talking about salary flexibility and possibly making moves by the deadline. also, him winning that 15th spot was a position of need and they obviously like battle, hence carlson losing his spot for the 2-way. i don't think they need to make jakob look good. he's been around long enough that teams like the lakers or pelicans will know what they are trading for
