  1. This feels like soccer(football) concepts of finding space and occupying it and players without the ball finds new space to pull other players way from the ball.

  2. Watching this I immediately thought of that Coach Daniel video, so it was amazing when we got the assistant coach reveal.

  3. Very disappointed you didn't mention the name of assistant coach Tuomas Lisalo… who was last year the head coach of Paris basketball. Playing the same way. Oh, by the way, Paris is now topping the Euroleague with this game, led by coach Tiago Splitter, the former Spur yes.

  4. If it’s taught as an offense and not as a group of principles the core lost. Understanding circle principles is no different than learning how to downscreen

  5. It's so weird that this seems like a new system. It looks like an adaption of the old tiki taka from Barcelona.

Pass and get in to space to draw defenders, usually focusing on closer triangles.

It's weird that it took teams a while to see the negative spacing created from bad picks. They create when they connect but when players are screening like AD it just leads to 4 people in the same place on the court. 😂

  6. When I was playing HS lacrosse this was part of our offense and many of the teams we played against so kind of cool to see here

  7. Love seeing metagame developments like this that are funky but work.
Pick-and-roll doesn't seem to slice up defenses that much anymore? Let's do some weird magnetic movement to generate space. Will be interesting to see how this develops across the season.

  8. Tuomas Iisalo, one of the assistant coaches, is responsible for the offensive concepts at Memphis, he's the former head coach of Paris Basketball.

  9. I think this is the newest inception of the "Princeton" offence, much like Cal's drive and kick. This offense is interesting but in the playoffs I am concerned about Jaren picking up the charge habit again and Bane is struggling to find his shot in it. Ja is gonna be fine because he's just that good but taking PNRs out of his shot diet is still wild to me. All I can say is I'm glad it's working

  10. Appreciate the full video with complete thoughts and observations without the need to pay for membership.

  11. Amazing video. Shout out to the team for producing such quality content.

And respect to the Grizzlies for breaking the mold, The homogeneous nature of modern tactics is boring. Always appreciate a team that can identify the flaws in the status quo and profit from it.

  12. Thinking basketball differently. That's coming from their new assistant coach, Tuomas Iisalo. Take a note.

  13. Reminds me of a lot of the fundamentals of react and react. Wonder if there are any differences

  14. Grizzlies fan…unfortunately, doesn't work very well against a zone and we're relegated to 3s and half court play

  15. Bronny should join this team—he will learn more from this system than if he were under LA. His problem is he stands around a lot hoping to chuck those threes, but his defenders know he’s a scrub from three so leave him to help with the defense.

He also lacks that instinct to move his butt. He doesn’t drive into open lanes for some reason. Under Memphis, maybe he can learn how to drag his defender and give his teammates space to do their thing.

Well, seems he’s improving by the recent looks of it, I’ll give him that.

  16. I'm a biased Grizzlies fan from Memphis, but I'm also a big time hoops fan. This Grizz team runs the most aesthetically pleasing offense in the league. They are so much more enjoyable to watch than all the other 3 point chucking teams.
