The art of the rebuild. It’s something I’ve covered many times on this channel. But it’s mainly the worst of the worst led by incompetent GMs and Organizations who either make one key mistake or a compilation of many that set them back for years or in the rare case, decades. But in the NBA right now we are currently witnessing one of the best youth movements and rebuilds possibly in the history of the NBA. And it all started in Oklahoma City and taking advantage of a team creating one of the most lopsided trades in NBA History with Paul George that was thought to be justified, but ended up jumpstarting one of the best cores in the NBA right now. A MVP Candidate in Shai Gilgeous Alexander, one of the better 2 way players in the league in Jalen Williams, a genetic monster that can block anything in Chet Holmgren, all created from this one trade! This is the story of the OKC’s Thunder rebuild, and how they got away with the greatest NBA Trade Heist in NBA History.

    Can’t discount the reality of this trade being that the Clippers weren’t really trading for Paul George, they were basically trading for Kawhi Leonard. So if Kawhi gets it done in the end, then the Clippers can still win the trade………if he’s healthy.

    I never thought the CP3 Thunder would be bottom feeders, Adams, Schroder, Galinari was solid with CP3 at the point. I didn’t expect SGA to be as good that year but I knew he wasn’t a slouch.

    The Thunder are the next coming of the 60’s Celtics. Amazing team building top to bottom, a system that players and coaches both buy into and most of all, their willingness to make the defensive play. Chet and Wemby coming in the way they did really is reminiscent of Bill and Wilt. Bill Russell was drafted into a situation where they were already a championship team. His defense just took them to a level that led to the dominance of that team. I see similar things with Chet. Wemby reminds me of Wilt, big stats, fun to watch, but just doesn’t have the team around him to win consistently. While the Spurs can obviously still recover, they are going to have way less chances Draft wise meanwhile the Thunder will still be stacking. It’s insane tbh
