The BEST New Rivalry in the NBA
The NBA cup kicked off with the Oklahoma City Thunder vs the Dallas Mavericks and the Milwaukee Bucks and Orlando Magic facing off in the quarter finals. The Thunder made a statement in their win over the Mavericks in what is building into one of the best new rivalries in the NBA. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic are both superstars who are rapidly ascending as the best guards in the world. Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson are both big name hall of famers who have had some iconic duels with the Thunder, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren are two of the league’s brightest young rising stars, and the two teams have had amazing battles as of late including a phenomenal playoff series. With these two as seemingly the best teams in the Western Conference with a lot of room to improve, it feels like we’re witnessing the birth of an era defining rivalry. Let’s talk about it.

You mean a rivalry that was renewed? I mean, they were a rivalry already before most recently dating back to 2011, where the Thunder won 2 out of 3 with the lone Mavs win resulted in a championship.

Cone someone has to talk about the fact our Thunder are 29 in league in FTA even though we 1st in Drives which is absolutely insane. Either our players really dont know how to draw fouls or something is fishy, i really dont want to start making conspiracy theories but its really weird.

I'm a Mavs fan and 100% of my interaction with Thunder fans is on X, and as you know that tends to be the most toxic version of a fanbase. So I have to say your video was refreshing and you seem to have as much respect for my Mavs as I (and a lot of Mavs fans not on X) have for your Thunder. Both teams are incredible in different ways, and I hope we both make the WCF because it might be the best one in decades.
Unfortunately on Tuesday night the Mavs as a whole had a pretty bad game. Of course I attribute a lot of that to the Thunder's defense and intensity. OKC was playing the game like it was a playoff game, and I don't think the Mavs were wanting to compete like that. I'm not saying that in any way to discredit or make an excuse for the Mavs. We played bad, OKC played well, it is what it is. But you could definitely tell Luka and Kyrie did not want to fight in that game like it was a playoff game, Luka barely even tried to fight Dort off the dribble.
Anyways, this series is going to be awesome for a while
Edit: the NBA isn't pushing the rivalry because they are completely oblivious to want fans actually want, same reason why they continue doing dumb things and pushing crap no one wants (like LA) then wonder why viewership is dropping lol.

I don't care what anyone says SGA and Luka are not point guards. SGA is a combo-guard and Luka is a point-forward. It feels like all perimeter ball handlers are called PGs these days.

I like the okc vs mavs rivalry but as a fan, I feel more excited when okc play the warriors, curry left way too many scars on me😂😭
I wouldn't really say it's a rivalry yet I'd still say Luka over Shai any day of the week and you know it's true. Anybody that wants to mention the game should remember the last series they played before talking

I swear only okc fans get hyped during a regular season game and a goofy ass fake tournament but when the playoffs comes around 🤫🤫🤫🤫
