CLUTCH JAMAL MURRAY RETURNS! | Nuggets Usurp Kings

No Jinx! Reacting to the Denver Nuggets clutch win over the Sacramento Kings. Jamal Murray turned his game around, as did Nikola Jokic. Russell Westbrook was great as a starter. The Nuggets needed this one and they got it.

  1. Moore missing the point as usual. You can't just point to FT's and say it was a well-officiated game and/or favored the Nuggets. He says he likes that they let them be "physical"….but here's the thing…when Denver was up 20 the refs were letting the Kings play prison ball and were calling the Nuggets for every ticky tack foul. It was one of the primary reasons it became a close came again.

  2. When I saw Denver lead by 20pts my immediate thought was "uh oh, we are doomed"… And my gut feeling was right…

  3. Dude on the left is irritating to watch, Russ is 5-1 when he’s in the starting unit. Get over the past look into the future

  4. Russ should start over Murray. Everyone praising Jamal but this is what is expected of a max guy. Not every now and then, every fucking game. Dude gets so many passes for some reason.

  5. More proof that Murray has been the issue. If he just plays like he's supposed to, like he's paid to, then we're talking about the Nuggets in a different way.

  6. Praising Murray for this type of performance while he’s A MAX GUY BTW, while simultaneously downplaying Russ’s effect on the game is insane… hopefully you guys learn how to be objective next time…

  7. Damn i feel bad for jamal. Its not just his bad games. Now, apparently, having a good game is also proof hes a bad player somehow. Personally, i dont pray on peoples downfall like that, so i hope he locks in mentally because thats all he needs.

  8. Love a road win, I lived an hour from Salt Lake in the Melo era and pre-Jokic Knicks Nuggets and i used to bring the demon out of those Jazz fans

  9. Malone is mismanaging minutes. Payton should be out there more. Coach is too hard on him, you gotta let guys play through some mistskes

  10. Im pretty sure matt moore chose denver just to troll all our teams 🤷🏽‍♂️ every time he slights Bo Nix i thumbs 👎🏽

  11. I’m the worst! I rage turned the game off after that late sabonis 3 to put the kings back up 8 I think. I feel shame

  12. Murray would not have to rely on hero ball if he would stop looking off MPJ and look to get him involved in the offense throughout the game.

  13. No easy wins. Every night is a battle. Love this team. Good to be a fan. What a fun game to watch. Kings starters are really good. Nuggets have championship core. Give me more.

  14. The power differential between these 2 is clear. Matt doesn't respect Ryan's takes. Ryan and Swipa have a much better dynamic.

  15. 6:15 It was a tough whistle. The refs could be described as "capricious." If you're officiating inconsistently it fucks with the players heads. Also it is possible to get to the line because a lot of fouls are obvious, but then ignore all the times there not getting all ball beneath the rim, but wrists and arms etc… Just because a team is playing physical and gets to the line more during the game doesn't mean there areb't a 101 things the refs ignored. Some missed calls are more key than others.

That being said we can't do anything about the refs and shouldn't invest too much in how they're calling the game. Although, it's legitimately frustrating. Minimizing that is also kind of irritating because it's a legitimate observation. As was said before, you're using a single metric to assess the entire game and how the whistle was being used. This is the logical fallacy in the conclusion although I agree with the substance of what you are saying– just play the game! Don't whine about the refs! Some whining should be expected when they seems to go blind, but it's still up to the team to pull out a W. It's part of the game.

I'm just trying to iron out this little wrinkle between the black and white approach to assessing how the refs called the game. I think they missed calls on both sides of the ball though in the fourth Q one play stands out. Game is on the line, Murray gets has the ball beneath the basket, it gets stripped with him by hitting his wrists and arm and then the Kings get a transition basket going the other way. Even Katy Wingy was indignant. She's pretty on point in her observations. That play is an example of several plays that played out like that.

Even if they are giving Denver appropriate calls on most plays, but decide to swallow the whistle when the game is on the line, it will frustrate players and fans. It's human nature when it becomes an impenetrable problem. Refs get stubborn and double down for no other reason to flex, that also is human nature.

F'ing up when the game is on the line negates anything that came before it even if Denver go a league leading amount of free throws. A lot of those are hard fouls that they can't avoid calling. Obvious calls aren't the focus here.

I'm glad the team ignored them after a while and just focused. It's up to Denver to pull the game out irregardless if they are happy with the call or not.

I feel like we have a legitimate debate here, but I also feel that it doesn't matter because fans are always unhappy with the refs and the game has always been played this way. Although sometimes it does feel like they try to even things out if one team in dominating. This I will admit is probably me projecting. I think it's perfectly acceptable and normal to have got upset in the bad officiating from last night. I bet Kings fans are upset too, and I'm usually fine when no calls go our way. Admittedly I and most fans react like this. This I think is the pith of Matt's point. It's just that quoting stats doesn't automatically prove a point, it can, but it can also be "circumstantial evidence."

  16. There was a sequence in the 3rd where Jokic was calling for the ball and Jamal just made a point not to pass it to him and opted to pass it across the court for a Kings steal and fast break. And you can see Jokic was pissed.
