I feel like we need to keep Shaqob Poeltl… raps ALWAYS need a solid, competent big… even if we’re rebuilding.

Dennis Schroder trade kinda ruined it for us. Brooklyn only got 2nd rd picks a return. BB likely the same.

Raptors do not HAVE to trade anyone, unlike the last couple of years. They WANT to trade. I think there will be another McDaniels trade, with Williams. They can bring back 9 million more salary. Which is very attractive to tax teams. And possibly Brown, Kelly O, Boucher. They got options, but they are not going to sell low
When we made the trade for Jak I was not keen on it and thought we made a mistake. How he proved me wrong. I do not want to let him go for ANYTHING. He is a core piece to the future on this Raptors team.
Gotta trade poetl even if hes a good fit with the raptors. Warriors would be a good fit for him, and have trade peices we could do with. And with chomche progressing he'll fit the timeline for the rebuild much better
Portal is good centre but is limited and starting to get injuries and slowing a little bit. He going to be decent for next 3 years but after that he probably going to be a backup center. By trading him now you trade him well his value is high and help make it easier to get top 5 pick in loaded draft. Raptors already probably have their centre of the future in Chromanche but he is very raw and might take this season and next before he is ready to take over he is only 18 and started basketball late. Raptors getting a top 5 pick with hopefully a healthy roster next season should have Raptors being a playoff team. Surprisingly in a weak 2024 draft Raptors have seemed to hit on all their draft picks with all looking like at least decent role players with chance of being something more. The highest upside is Chromanche but that's only if he develops right

Talking about a Poertl trade is a total waste of YouTube air time. The Raptors having a glaring hole at centre from when Gasol peaked out till the acquired Poertl at last years trade deadline.

@benrogers you are not reading it properly. jakobs new contract's FLOOR STARTS AT 27.3 million. thats like thinking last year og anunoby was gonna sign back to raptors for 28-30 million. there is a new us cable tv contract with revenue kicking in 2026 season, and jaks numbers having a career year are better than claxton making 28 million, hartenstein making 30 million, and ayton making 35 million. then you add on a 5 million premium at least to sign in toronto.
jakob poeltl next contract to sign with rebuilding raptors is 38-40 million a year for 4 years. jaks not worth that kind of money. its better to draft a mobile 7 ft center who can shoot 3's in the draft that are available.
@benrogers teams are not gonna fix the screw up by masai paying a top 8 pick and two 2nds for jakob poeltl. if you think you are getting that even for jakob you are delusional. Jakob poeltl is a mid 1st rounder in 2025 draft with a young player maybe and filler. either way next year as an expiring if raptors dont pay jakob 38-40 million a year because masai has no leverage here, he is worth two 2nds at the 2026 deadline or he can go to UFA when he opts out after 2026 season and leave for nothing. if he is gonna have to take less, all players leave toronto to be on playoff teams in warm cities with less taxes.
the reality is players dont sign in toronto for cheap. masai has no leverage here and will have to pay jakob 38-40 million a year to stay in toronto. if he isnt offered that, he will likely take less to play on a contender in the us market with less taxes in a warm city. why would jakob take less when he can just move to a warm city with less taxes on a contender? you acting like toronto is a market that is the same as us cities. its not. they overpaid boucher to stay, they over paid olynyk by 7 million to stay in toronto. they will have to over pay to keep jakob poeltl also. and its a dumb move because jaks not worth 38-40 million. its better to trade him for max value and draft a center in the draft.

@benrogers there is a reality check here. dennis schroeder who had much better stats and is a better player only got three 2nds. so you will likely be lucky to get a 2nd round pick with bad filler coming back for either olynyk. brown, and boucher. no one is gonna give up a 1st round pick for any of those players.
