I think people are not watching, because they think if you're making 20m a year, we better see some dive on the floor effort every game.
The games start too late. There are too many 3's. Too much flopping. And I'm sure the failure of Bally Sports helped contribute (although not the main cause) to the low ratings as well.
stopped following the rest of the nba around 2019…mostly because (mavs were bad) refs can´t be trusted anymore and the media around the NBA WAS and mostly still IS absolutely horrilbe

The game just aint fun, youre expecting a foul every possesion. The new stars arent as fun, eg shai ( foul baiter), theres no drama either, these rivalries are BORING, the nba scene is just so dry right now, media always hating rather than promoting, also all these BETTING ADS 😴 so this includes yalll 😅
Woke culture. We just watched Clark lose half her fan base. I don't care about any other team or players in the NBA. I can look past the woke stuff if my team is winning (unless LeBron was our star player, i would hope the Mavs sucked and I wouldn't watch them) . If Mavs sucked I wouldn't watch NBA at all. Telling me I'm racist because I'm white kinda turns me off. Every famous rich black athlete tells me I've oppressed him, and somehow, this 5'11" poor white guy has kept him from becoming a millionaire athlete, I guess. Referees are just as big of a problem.
They should offer team specific league passes so you buy just the schedule for the one team uou want if you dont want the whole league

To me it has been the refs. Some of this refs get too emotional. Also refs don’t officiate games all the same. Some refs let game continue but others have to stop the game for every little contact.
The problem in short: the nba is more entertainment than basketball.

The foul batting was always avaliable but was always called strict…now you get a game to game difference in foul calls and the amount of faul calls ..its not the calls its the consistency of call thatbis the issue..you have to situations in the game that are similar but are called different

I know Kyrie and I are not politically aligned, but i believe in free speech, and he did nothing wrong in my eyes. How he was treated over covid, and that post was 100% un-American. This is why Kyrie is popular in Dallas, Texas. Because the "right" in Texas stands with Americans like Kyrie. And we will have his back even against you. He gave a voice to Americans who didn't want to be forced into taking an experimental drug. And he lost money over his stance that's brave and American in every way. And while you're bashing DT, you would be wise to remember his wife and Luka are from the same country. I know this is long but Y'all need to let someone that doesn't think like you 2 have a voice in this discourse because I'm from that group that the NBA lost and the only reason im here is because the Mavs are winning and Cuban is gone. And you would be wise to know part of your fanbase who you earn a paycheck from are from the "right". Go Mavs!
There’s a lot of media to compete with these days. All of these streaming apps where you literally can watch anything at the palm of your hands. Video games, which can provide hours of entertainment whether it’s alone or online gaming, and it’s football season for both the pros and college. Even when Dirk won his chip 13 years ago, streaming apps and gaming was nowhere near the juggernauts as they are now. That’s a lot to compete with. I also think that a lot our current biggest stars being foreign players has a role in it to. They’re aren’t as relatable to us even though they are highly skilled.

What affecting the NBA the most is the emphasis on 3-pointers. It’s not as exciting as dunks. Why do think the WNBA has been struggling?
Lots of reasons that the NBA is not as good as it used to be, but when I stepped away the end of Kobe’s career it was a mixture of my busy life and ridiculous politization of the sport. You guys seemed to be downplaying it, but when LeBron comes out and says the police are hunting Black people or they’re wearing patches of rapist and drug dealers on their uniforms to pay tribute to people who’ve been mistreated by the police, it’s a real issue. Not because they’re expressing their political views, but that they’re so obviously uninformed and still think they know better than the rest of us , plus are tangentially calling their own fans racist the way that the WNBA has started doing.
Don’t call me a racist, insult my country, and say stupid crap I know isn’t true and then ask me to give you money and my support. Just play basketball…..why is that so hard?
I pay for the single team league pass and it has been amazing. I just watch all the Mavs games. Ratings are down because people are sick of athletes and the BLM drama and WNBA race drama and the anti-white messaging. That is the cold hard reality. Step away from the sports world. Go talk to all the rest of the hundreds of millions of people. See what they are talking about. Believe it or not but there are many people who couldnt care less about sports and when they bring up the race drama … it drives even more away.
Stop being anti-white and ratings come back. It really is that simple. The entire MSM is anti-white and anti-Christian. That is ticking a ton of people off. It just isnt sports. It is all of Hollywood and TV too.
Foul baiting should honestly be technicals because it does suck to watch. Luka does it, Shai does it, Sengun, the list goes on and on.

As a mavs fan in georgia, i have to pay for league pass to watch all the games . They are rarely in tv here
Biggest reasons.
1)Access/blackouts
2)Play style: 3s, reffing
3) NBA politics & lack of marketing for new stars
Too many games, I have season tickets and love the Mavs but there’s so many games it waters it down in my opinion.
Cable is almost extinct. Amazon just paid 2 billion to stream games.
I look at it from another perspective because thats what I do, I think viewership is down because how they take those analytics are not taking under consideration of streaming sites. Me personally I haven't watched a game on TNT or ESPN or whoever shows it I have only watched from streaming sites for the last 10 years. Its like when the government speaks for people that dont pay attention to census.
