The Nets should be open to trading Nic Claxton, and one NBA team needs to call Brooklyn immediately!
While they just signed him in the off-season to a multi-year contract, there could be a case to trading Nic Claxton this season to get value on the way to the full (full) tank. The Locked on Nets take a look at the situation, what he means to the Brooklyn Nets, how his game has changed over the years, and teams who could (and should) come calling.

Refuse to win…all the way up to the deadline!!!! Must get in that top 3/4 slot!!!!!
NETS need to trade Cam Johnson…PRONTO!!!! Gotta believe the phone is ringing off the hook!!!
Gotta lose these next 2 games if we are SERIOUS TANKERS!!!
No, the Nets shouldn't trade Claxton.
Yes the nets should trade away Claxton
Listen, nobody is for the tank more than me. I’ve been screaming about building through the draft for years now. However, you can tank but also not completely destroy any foundational nets culture that you might have
To me there is something special about having home grown talent with the nets historically haven’t had because they are busy trading away guys for superstars so I understand the logic of trading Cam Thomas and trading Claxton, but for me these guys are homegrown Brooklyn Nets and what do you expect to have an entire team of rookies next season?
I think trading DFS And Cam Johnson, and maybe extendingCam Thomas‘s rehab you should be perfectly bad enough to get a High lottery pick without getting rid of those guys because those rookies are going to need some veteran voices in the locker room and it’d be cool to have two homegrown guys be it.
Can someone please layout a dream scenario going forward into the next few seasons for The NETS? Something to make this BS worth being part of.
Don't get me wrong, I'm loyal asf – I'll get behind it. I just wanna hear an actual plan laid out other than just "Tank Season".
Everyone keeps going on and on about tanking for draft picks – but what is the actual plan?
Are we trying to completely clear out the team to make way for a couple good rookies next year, then build around them?
Or are we tanking for 2-3 seasons to stack up on LOTS of highly rated rookies and then build from there?
Are there rookies coming up in the draft that we are aiming for to build around?
Or are we a feeder club trynna make money bringing in good rookies then selling them on for profit?
Whats the actual plan?
Whats the best case scenario?
Cause a week ago, we had a scrappy but decent team that noone in the league wanted to play against, and that was actually worth watching – could probably have been genuinely competitive in a years time – so I just wanna know what exactly the aim is in dismantling it like this…
The thing that makes NO sense is this….whether you like Claxton or not, ir for that matter any of the "vets". Trading existing talent to the degree of depletion (tanking) for one or a few players not even 6 months out of HIGH-SCHOOL is beyond stupid. So now you have a Flagg, Bailey or Harper. Do you possibly think that team is winning ANYTHING for the next 4 years?? Even adding a star, who is NOT volunteering to play for this mess. Any valuable vet looking at the disfunction of the Nets from 2022 up to now, would be a total fool to come to BK even with the allure of the NYC market. This organization is terrible at the management of putting together a BASKETBALL product, it's just constant wheeling and dealing year after year with no results of making a deep playoff run.
Trading Clax for Ja makes no sense lol 😂maybe I read the thumbnail incorrectly and ja trying to win now not after a tankathon the nets need to overhaul of the front office they don’t know wth they doing 😂 they letting shooters go left and right next the cheerleaders will be getting laid off lol
If Zach Edey is in the Deal, the Nets should do it

This makes no sense. We already dealt Jarrett Allen for someone who contributed nothing but drama. No.
Do you know what prospect hoarding is? Just so you know, it never works.
How are the Cavs doing with Allen, by the way?
By the way:
Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert want to get win over Nets for Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson
The Cavs are what the Nets could have been.
Why do fans think having high draft picks lead to championships. We're still waiting for the 76ers to escape the 2nd round.
No.
Look at McCain. He was the 16th pick.
Far more disastrous picks in the top 5.
Nets missed the boat on trading Claxton to Memphis. Fans and the team wanted him in the off-season, but with the emergence of Huff and how promising Edey looks it's a pass now. Grizz need vet wings more than anything. But the interest is still there for Cam and DFS.
To me it's mind boggling how on a team with no expectations and signing a 100 million dollar contract. Claxton is so afraid to shoot any jumpshots at all. Makes no sense he has a good form!
Adam, your tie hangs loosely and slightly askew, giving off a relaxed vibe. The vibrant red microphone in front of you mimics the appearance of a red tie, creating a playful visual. I'm eagerly anticipating your next move—perhaps you'll break into a lively dance to the iconic tune of the Village People's "YMCA," complete with the signature hand gestures that bring the song to life.
Navajo from Northern Arizona
Claxton should be traded as a priority.
Dude isn't that good.
Dude has huge anger issues that are going to cement a bad culture as he is part of the organisation for longer.
You don't want him being your "vet"
The timeline for the nets to rebuild is weird and Claxton isn't that impressive that you want to really care about keeping him. He might be useful, but he definitely has limits and has a huge risk factor to the team with his mentality
Also I would rather Simmons as he is now than Claxton. He is actually doing more for the team this season than Claxton, that's a statement. Simmons is actually being useful, even if not the contract level. Claxton is negative in a bunch of ways.
I think no Claxton won't impact winning a lot given his plus minus and that he hasn't been there a lot too. This game they did better with him out after his election
Individual point, I think Vuc for Claxton works for both teams in different ways. Claxton needs to move ATM for some sort of fresh start that may help his mental state. Vuc will fit better for Nets and maybe make them win more as a downer but expiring contract.
Claxton might give one tiny bit of Bulls defence and maybe a new system can salvage him given he's just awful ATM with the nets and it feels like he is going nowhere with the Nets
