Levine is a good player, but Denver's problem is not too little scoring from the starting 5. I think they are looking at the wrong Chicago player, as Vucevic would be a better fit since Denver needs a big to lead the bench unit and stop the hemorrhaging when Joker is resting , not an additional starter to split the points of the starting unit.
IPlease, I beg you guys to start a conversation on this idea. Think about this. What if we traded Gordon/Porter for Markkanen/Clarkson or Markkanen/Kessler.
Now hear me out. Please. The contracts would line up for the Jazz and if they want a bit more we can give them a 2nd round pick to smooth out the deal. 2nd round picks aren’t that big of a deal, most are busts, we ain’t getting another Jokic in the second round ever again.
Here’s why I think the Jazz could potentially take a deal like this.
1. They aren’t as good of a squad as they thought they’d be and I believe Sexton has been unhappy.
2. Yes, Markkanen is a better player than Porter but you would get two solid players in Gordon and Porter.
3. Porter can do similar things than Markannen but with Markkanen, the Jazz need to worry about having to pay more for him by the end of his contract since he might be eligible for a higher salary. If they get to the point where they need to pay him more than he already gets paid and they’re still no where near contenders, that spells disaster for a team. Yet, Porter can do similar things than Markannen on a lower salary and probably won’t get paid higher than where he is in the future.
4. As good as Markkanen is, he is not the best player on a championship team and the Jazz still need to either draft or find one that will be that player.
4. Porter is 1 year younger and you can argue has improved aspects of his game like his passing.
5. Porter has remained healthy for 3 seasons now. He’s not injury prone.
6. Gordon/Porter = 52.1 million/year and Markannen = 41.1 million/year add Clarkson and you get 55.1 million/year. Nuggets can afford that and Jazz are saving some money there too.
7. Clarkson has not been as good as previous years and they might look into trading him. For the Nuggets it would be a win too since we need a solid bench player in whatever form it is. Clarkson is still a good shot creator and playmaker.
For the Jazz this means:
1. More money to pay their talent.
2. Markkanen salary split into to solid players for you team in Porter/Gordon who are tradable valuable assets as well.
3. A possible 2nd round pick
4. Jazz would get a lot of depth
For Nuggets:
Starters: Westbrook, Murray, Watson, Markkanen, Jokic
Bench: Clarkson, Braun, Strawther, Jordan
1. Bench gets very good
2. Rebounding improves
3. Defense improves
4. Offense remains similar if not a bit better in my opinion.
They could ask for Strawther and I would give him away with Gordon and Porter if I get Clarkson and Markkanen but I wouldn’t give the pick away in that case. Or we might want a good backup big so we go Markannen and Kessler and now we would be a very tall team with some cap space.
Please talk about this more I believe the Jazz should at least consider this and the Nuggets should have the highest interest in Markkanen. The more you guys talk about the higher the chance the front office thinks about this.
CB &/or Watson both not in at the end defensively is objectively bad coaching. I’m not saying fire him by any means, but that made zero sense.
I will believe a team trades for 3 back surgeries, mid🏀IQ/defense due $100 million next 2.5yrs MPJ and 30 million next 3-4 yrs Zeke!
I don't how Matt is doing math… He is saying the Nuggets played a ton of games, and others played less. They litterly played the least amount of games in the conference (between 1-3 less).
Yes, they are "only" 1-2 losses behind Dallas/Memphis, but they are also 3-5 wins behind as well…. i don't trust them to catch up in the win column…
Bringing a player that will become the second scorer (like Levine) can be a problem if Jamal doesnt give up on the ball…. thats partly why MPJ isnt effective in certain moments…
I still think its Jamal 😂😂😂😂
Because I blame him for the mood created and bad chemistry from the beginning of the season. I think our newest problem is funk. Jukic is clearly in a funk the last few games…
And also even if Jamal improved he is still not elite and, the nuggets would benefit more from a better ball handler than a better small forward
