Stockton Assist Record WON’T Be Broken 🐐

Stockton Assist Record WON’T Be Broken 🐐

The Gil’s Arena podcast crew gives John Stockton his flowers. After Chris Paul broke the 2nd all-time list of NBA Assists, Stockton has become a topic of conversation. Chris Paul will never reach his 15,000 assists because of the longevity of Stockton’s career with the Utah Jazz. Kenyon Martin says he would never miss a game. If you look at his career he was playing 80 games every season and getting more assists than anyone ever has or will. Another great inside the NBA commentary from the Gil’s Arena podcast.

Gil’s Arena every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30am PT / 2:30pm ET.

  1. John Stockton is the greatest PG of all-time. You may like Magic and Isaiah more but Stock is the purest PG in NBA history.

  2. He was a monster stayed in top top shape took his diet and cardio as serious as any of the goats and he did the low key dirty plays IYKYK

And stayed the same size his whole career like a buck 65

  3. Stockton was one of the greatest team players ever. If he were a scorer, he probably would have missed more games due to injuries.

  4. Ok I'm a say it..BEST PG OF ALL TIME. 15,000 ast = 30,000 points & he's the all time steal leader.

  5. Stockton was a beast. He mastered his role. Players want to do it all now to be β€œnoticed”, yet we REALLY notice players who specialize after they retire.. Different league now though.

  6. Stockton was on court mean, smart and durable that even Kerr hated him. Players in this era get injured without dribbling for fuckin chucking 3s. Wth.

  7. In a bloodsport type of defenses back then. Come on out only 22 games in 19 seasons (1558 reg season games) plus deep playoff runs. SMH

  8. Not only that, but he never played over 36 minutes in any game, per Sloan's orders. So he averaged playing 3 quarters, per game, and still smoked everybody!

  9. In today's NBA, will never happen. These guys take so many days off. Back then, players were different. They were loyal to teams. Now, guys like Lebron james junp ship and run to the enemy. That would be like Larry bird going to the Lakers. Just wouldn't happen. But today. These guys sint loyal. Not like Kobe Bryant or Tim Duncan etc. Or John Stockton. I cant believe lebron james left Cleveland just to come back and win with Kyrie Irving. Hacker.

  10. Even if Utah inflated his home stats and some of his assists were kinda suspect by way of Karl Malone going one on one and doing all the work for a bucket, you still gotta put mad respect on stocktons name and marvel at his records. If you doubt his ability as a player just listen to Gary Payton, one of the all time great defensive PGs, talk about Stockton’s skill and impact as a player.

  11. and to think they are counting real assist back then.. nowadays Lebron get an assist even after 5seconds has passed lol

  12. I was a Sonics fan, so not only did i watch him play 4 games vs. Seattle, but some seriously great playoff series. It was them and Houston. Boy, what a time to watch the NBA.

  13. AND the game was played a lot harder back then.
what those guy's did in the 80's too each other
would be all fouled out in the first quarter now.
cry babies now can't even watch anymore.

  14. Low key hornacek was a dog too
Damm I remember Stockton pick an roll with Malone carr ostertag an a few other cats
Them tough white boys with the basic fundamentals

  15. WHOA!! Don't sit up there and act like his stats are about longevity. That man is the all time leader in steals AND assists. Meanwhile Kenyon can't even dribble with his left hand or shoot a jumpshot. The jealousy is real with these dudes.
