Curry & Warriors DESTROYED by Grizzlies, Zach LaVine to Nuggets? Bo Nix & Broncos EXPOSED | NerdSesh

The nerds react to the Golden State Warriors’ brutal skid, which culminated in Steph Curry’s 2-point performance against the Memphis Grizzlies in Dennis Schroder’s debut. They also debate whether or not it makes sense for the Denver Nuggets to trade Zach LaVine for Michael Porter Jr., and argue which Western Conference guards would most deserve an all-star spot today. Then, they react to how Bo Nix & the Denver Broncos were exposed by Justin Herbert & the LA Chargers on Thursday Night Football.

  1. Long time Nuggets fan. Lavine would be a great fit. He would feast on the easiest looks he's ever had in his career next to Jokic/Jamal. Aside from healthy Jamal Jokic has never had that level of shot making and shot creation next to him. Having 2 guards capable of that would make them unguardable and life much easier on Jokic. I'm down for it. Unless the rumored Cam Johnson/DFS package is also available I think Zach is the only rumored option worth it.

As much as I love MPJ he tends to disappear too often during games for my liking I think a shake up can be good.

  2. I’m grateful for Ja Morant. One of the only guards who consistently gets to the rim and doesn’t spam 3s. I feel like such an oldhead now but I know I’m not the only one who is tired of the NBA regular season product right now.

  3. Just because THE WARRIORS are bad without Steph doesn’t mean he’s an ALL STAR… that’s a value argument for MVP…. You have to compare him to other players statistically… I like Steph too but it’s OKAY to say he isn’t having a great year compared to other guards. No way he should be a lock over a Kyrie who was winning games without Luka … and his numbers speak for itself. I’m taking a couple guards before Steph

  4. every defensive possession starts on the perimeter so every teams defensive attack starts there it doesnt necessarily mean thats their biggest issue defensively

  5. Steph is about to be 37, the same age Kobe retired at after a big payday and years of mediocrity, like Steph is in now. The window is closed. Either ride the last few years to the sunset to build for the future, or go all-in and risk setting your team's future back decades.

  6. Fun fact brought up on the chris vernon show this morning 😅. Dray statisticly had the worst game in the history of the NBA last night. NO ONE EVER has had 0-0-0 and been -42 in less than 20 mins of play in the history of the NBA. Congrats to Mr. GREEN breaking records 😂😂😂

  7. 11:11 Is giving up Kuminga going to get you an all star player that can put you in position to win a championship with Steph? I think 2022 was the final championship, not because Steph can't do it anymore, but because the Warriors are unwilling to adapt to their aging star and they don't have a player like 2022's Poole on their roster, who in his first 3 play off games matched Wilt Chamberlain's record for ppg in a playoff series… He also won FT% that year, and also shot lights out from the 3. The Warriors didn't get anything to replace Poole's punch from 2022, and trading Kuminga isn't going to find the Warriors a player like that, time to admit that the window for a 5th ring might be closed.

  8. That last possession with Denver had me scratching my head. Russell in the game at 36, and he did have a great game offensively, but why not have Watson or even Christian in the game it’s like the Nuggets are suffering from a head injury when it comes to defense. They look unmotivated and yes, Jamall is the biggest issue even when he puts up 24 points in a game defensively anybody can run around him unfortunately my Nuggets are in it deep.

  9. Seems like Logan is snubbing Kyrie purely bc he doesn’t like him. He’s had a better season than both jdub and book. He’s also just way more enjoyable to watch. lol

  10. Yall were on hoops tonight and not one mention of the grizzlies being a legit contender. Absolute nonsense, yall just be Luka and Okc glazing

  11. ON/OFF SWINGS GIVE MISPLACED/UNEARNED CREDIT TO GUYS!! for a few reasons:
    (hear me out 🙏)

    1. on/off metrics are flawed generally bc they are a sample of a TEAM's results that overlap w a single players minutes. lot of room to conflate correlation n causation. a teams scoring margin is always influenced by all 10 players on the court. 9 other players when theyre on, 10 other players when theyre off. a persons complicated n somewhat SUBJECTIVE attribution process as to who gets credit/blame for the on/off results n how much, is as, if not more important than the actual +/- number.

    2. on/off swings mainly compare a players impact to their own teammates' impact. it doesnt compare their impact to the whole league v well.

    3. role muddles the attribution process as well. if you are the only player on a team that can reasonably do a specific job, your play goes a longer way towards helping your team win than it could for a BETTER player who is replaced by a guy almost as good when they sit.

    4. off numbers are theoretically a measure of the the teams talent that the player elevates when theyre on the court. but thats not true bc
    a) again, it doesnt account for roles. for ex. a lineup that includes the top 5 pgs in the nba gets destroyed even tho it is extremely talented.
    b) if the player never actually plays with the guys that play when he sits, than the off numbers dont actually tell you anything abt the guys that player is elevating. depending on how coaches play guys, the off numbers can be more or less relevant

so these metrics it tell you a little abt the value of a player to their own team (i guess relevant in mvp talks as long as the team is good), but its not useful when you compare players on diff teams like you are w all-star selections or BITW n GOAT convos. want more evidence as to why on/off is flawed? …. bc the same nerds who created it started making up new metrics to compensate. Like WARP which tries to compare players to others at their position across the whole league. you got EPM n VORP etc but at that point it gets so complicated its hard to know whether the formulas are effective or not. theyre too complex n in many cases proprietary ip that cant even be audited. but its clear the inventors of these stats aren't sure of their effectiveness either. thats why they keep changing the formulas every few years.

moral of the story is on/off numbers dont rly tell you much. we need to stop using them like they are objective measures of a players impact. yall throw em out like "case closed this persons impact is crazy" lol. if you use them you need to explain your attribution process. contextualize them w eye test, W-L record, traditional stats, have an understanding of which roles are most important to winning any why etc. MAKE A REAL BASKETBALL ARGUMENT! sheesh

  12. Baseline reasoning for Denver is that this roster isn't going anywhere. They have to make adjustments. I like LaVine if they can find another rotation player in the deal. Nnaji will be great somewhere else, like all Nuggets centers.

  13. Crazy how you guys never have any criticism of Steve Kerr. When everyone with eyes can see his coaching is abysmal.

  14. It's such a tired thing to say that the Warriors need more stars and should trade Kuminga. FOR WHOM???? Kuminga and Moody for Giannis and Dame? What's the actual plan and not some weak plan like Jerami Grant that does nothing for them but weaken their long term hopes.

  15. I think the nuggets need to play more than once every 3 days. Its hard to get into a rhythm when you dont play together and the days off are hurting

  16. The market sucks. Nuggets front office and ownership is awful. No short term or long term planning. They knew the apron was coming. Booth is an id.iot. Zivela Srbija.

  17. even Wemby couldn't block that perfectly executed shot with his right hand which was too far for any safe attempt by Joker.. by the way, a few minutes before Joker earned a foul in almost the same duel with Simmons !! the boy took a risk and put it in with his far hand as well that's it!! if he got away from the hoop Ayerton could easily dunk..Joker made a mistake at the start because he imagined a different action but he had to choose something, it's all good I guess because at least Joker always learns from mistakes, although I don't know about the others!!

  18. I love Steph , but he’s having a rough go right now… anyone who’s watched him play through the years … Steph’s slumps do not last very long…. Kyrie is a magician and deserving of an all star spot for sure … 71 is a football number lol to me , but it’s the reverse of 17 so I’m not mad at Dennis for choosing it . I’m just gonna keep the faith and hope they can turn it around . Dubs need a big … fingers crossed they get one sooner than later…
