Only thing wrong is that pj is not a solid defender, he's a great defender. What he brings most to this team in defending and rebounding, not offense
PJ Washington isnt only a solid defender who can hold his ground… he is our most important and most versatile Defender. He defends everyone from Ja to SGA to Markkanen to even Jokic. If needed he defends every possession from 1-5. For me he is a true All Defense player this season. So you got it backwards. His Defense is where he stands out, while his Offense is solid.

Forgot to mention Dinwiddie and Grimes who have been balling out for the Mavs this season and provide legitimate options for more minutes when one of their players is out. I truly think Dallas is one of the deepest teams in the league with the necessary top-end talent to compete for a championship, especially considering they finally have more ball movement and Luka is at his lowest usg rate since his rookie season.

I mean Luka has been carrying the Mavs ever since he got into the league, there are compilations upon compilations off his previous teammates missing shots after his godly assist… and that's why he developed his ball-hogging playstyle, after all those years its hard to put trust into your teamamtes, but it seems he's finally adapting.
Yeah Luka Is A Very Dominate Player One Hell Of A Scorer And A Walking Triple Double With One Of The Best In The League In Kyrie Next To Him But It’s Mainly Just Them Two. The Grizzlies Are Deff The 2nd Best Outside of OKC Then I Would Say The Suns Who Have The Mavs Number This Season Then You Have To Consider Some Other Teams Like The Pelicans Who Haven’t Been Healthy This Season And Teams Like Minnesota And Sacramento Who Are A Move Or Two Away From Being Serious Contenders. the West Is STACKED

Yes they didn’t have chet either but the stats that PJ is a greater equalizer than chet goes back to the playoffs in june. Yes they got a center in that timeframe but we haven’t seen either team face each other at full force. I got the Mavericks coming out of the west right now as the 2nd best team in the west. because they will beat anyone in front of them with this lineup
I know is gonna sound trolling. But its easy to noice that folks amass triple doubles like nothing these years. Luka, Jokic and others are superb players. But to diminish MJs , Birds , Magic achievements by raw stats comparison is just wrong. Stats need context. Rebounds , assists and points are easier to make now.
PJ's defense makes everyone else's defense better. Without him Mavs defense is piss poor honestly
When was Luka injured?
In the Warriors game, both teams were on fire with 3's. Breaking an NBA record in a combined 48 made 3's. Defense wasn't really the issue for the Mavs when the other team is also shooting lights out. Mavs had 46 in the 1st quarter and 81 at halftime.

Luka was not the problem in the Finals, everyone else was. Kyrie didn't show up except for 1 game. The roll players also could not hit open 3s.

To be fair, the Warriors went into that game with the 3rd ranked defense. So if it’s a negative for a worse defense to give up less I’m confused. Dallas giving up 130+ points moved them to 11 so to me that’s more than capable for a Luka led team. They should finish top 5 offense top 8 or 9 defense. Assuming we are somewhat healthy like right now.

It's a long way until playoffs. With every game injuries are more likely to happen and last. High usage players are more prone to that.
