Side kick and Partner are not the same thing. Gil has a limited basketball view and IQ. How do you get to the Finals? You have to go through your conference. After the 1st Chip, they were partners. As a true basketball fan I watched their playoff runs and have video of it. Just like Gil tried to convince people Kobe wasn't athletic….. it's just dumb. Good thing I saw it with my own eyes. It makes it easier to call out lies. Very bad example using Paul Gasol. When Kobe didn't take the shot, they went to D Fish. Keep listening Gil if you're a casual basketball fan 😅
Well in regards to the comparison of the main man needing a partner to win. When Kobe partnered Shaq, Shaq was just like him in the sense that he had never tasted a championship, whereas when Gasol came, Kobe was stardom and had 3 rings already. There's a big difference in the comparison if u understand
Kobe was the Robin due to his age but we all know he saved Shaq multiple times during that 3peat which is why he was never considered a sidekick…they were a duo, no more no less
And thats why Kobe got shaq out of their…and showed the world Never a sidekick…MAMBA! AND KOBE NEVER BEEN NO PIPPEN STOP WITH ROBIN RINGS …RING IS A RING STOP THAT HATE
Kobe was averaging 25 per game in a regular season during those 3peat while Shaq was averaging 28…it was never a Batman-Robin, it was a Superman-Batman duo. Kobe's stat during the 3peat was that of a Franchise player, it's just that Shaq was so dominant in that era that Kobe's contribution tends to get overlooked…
I guess that makes Batman a sidekick when he teams with Superman. Do we forget game 4 in 2000, when Superman fouled out and Batman held it down? He’s still Batman!!!
I don’t like Gil saying Kobe was Robin…but the NBA goes with the analogy of top dog and beta or A1 and A2 or Batman and Robin..but when he said Kobe needed Gasol..it brought it back into perspective for me. Michael don’t get 6 rings without Pippin…
Let me give you a stat line as an example for the 01 playoffs: 29.4 PPG 7.3 rebounds 6.1 assists…that's Kobe average for the whole playoffs. Is that sidekick numbers? Any franchise player would win MVP with those numbers. I agree Shaq was the undisputed top dog in 2000. But from 01-04, it was 1A and 1B
Imagine seeing a “side kick” average damn near 30 ppg in the tough western playoffs, just to be a called a side kick bcuz the weak east had no one to defend to Shaq and it was east titles to just let shaq cook… if you ever doubt the mamba, just check the 2001 western conference they played and how kobe did… kobe cooked the west, Shaq cooks the east.. that’s how it worked 😂😂😂

I don't agree kobe never took a back step like Scott I think they both shared kobe Shaq the attitude they had
Kobe went 22/50 in his last game pretty much explained his entire career a inefficient ballhog
Gilbert’s a poser. Says he’s a Kobe fan but constantly disrespects him. LOL.

Bs
Podcasts got bums thinking their voice matters ngl hella cringe
Gil right on this one
Ya, but Gasol didn't avg almost 30 a game in the playoffs. 🤔🤥
That's what championships are about. Everyone needs each other to win. Kobe played a huge role in that 3peat so who cares if he was a sidekick
Bean still averaged 21, 29, and 26 in those series so 🤷🏾♂️
If Mamba was alive gel won't say that cause Kobe would been on that show the next day so stop that hate!

And Kobe knew that, exactly why he didn’t want to play with Shaq anymore

Gilbert just need to keep his mouth shut
Until the end when he basically said young Kobe was just a Gasol
He was not batman. He RIGHT!
Kobe is my favorite player ever but Shaq won three finals MVPs. He was by far the better player back then
Now show gilbert getting cooked by Skap attack on this very topic. Guy is a goofball
Kobe was a Killa from the jump though
Every top dog needed another star player and a supporting cast. It's a TEAM sport.

Kobe out played Gil every time they faced off
Team sport.
