Never played much basketball but did play 7th, 8th grade, and 9th grade. I’ve always had an issue with confidence, and my 7th grade coach saw that. He encouraged me to shoot, and brought out the best in me. Fast forward to 8th grade, and that coach completely took the wind out of my sails. He never coached me. Just left me where I was, and never cared to develop anything.
All that to say, I’d say encouragement is one of the most important parts of coaching.

when i was on practice like grade 11 my threes and mid are missing a LOT. but when i played with scrimmage i was hitting my shots and having a rhythm.

This is what D1 basketball players are expected to do. It’s nothing special, so I’m not sure what’s so good about this.
Prime example of not trash talking your team, and actually being a good and motivating team working.
