EMERGENCY POD! Lakers Trade D’Angelo Russell, Lewis, 2nds to Nets for Dorian Finney-Smith, Milton!

Rob Pelinka said he needed 30 games to evaluate the Lakers roster, its strengths and weaknesses, its viability, etc. Saturday’s 132-122 win over the Sacramento Kings marked game 31, which is pretty damn close to 30. And it appears that Pelinka is a literal man, because the Lakers have made a deal with the Brooklyn Nets, sending D’Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis and three second round picks to the Brooklyn Nets for Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton.

Instant reaction? It’s a deal that’s really about DFS, who’s been linked to the Lakers for a couple of seasons. (Basically, once the Nets started sucking.) He addresses a few needs for the Lakers. Three-point shooting. (DFS is hitting a career-best 43.5 of his attempts from deep this season.) Defense. (DFS isn’t quite the perimeter stopper that he used to be, but he’s still capable of defending wings and either way, should help shore up the defense broadly). Scoring. (He’s not as explosive as D’Lo, but he’s been steady for his career as someone who can average near double digit output. Milton, depending on how much he plays, can help along these lines, too.)

Plus, the Lakers are now $3.5 below the second apron line.

Any downsides?

  1. Honestly a great move by the FO. Next thing would be bringing in a good Center. Kessler would be great.

  2. I dont understand how the Lakers stole this trade away from the Grizzlies. They appeared to have a better deal. So, my question is.. How was Memphis 's draft picks wasn't good enough. They threw in a first rounder.

  3. Andy we appreciate you beginning to acknowledge how valuable Austin is as a point guard. Let that revelation continue to open your eyes. What’s most impressive is not the 26 assist in the last two games, what’s the most impressive has been his consistency in this realm on a LeBron James team. How many guys has Bron ever trusted to handle primary ball handling responsibilities in big time moments ? That should tell you everything you need to know.

  4. This is a very Bad trade for the Lakers, Brooklyn just robbed the Lakers. These two new addition will not fit with the Lakers.

  5. I really appreciate your efforts! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?

  6. Dlo is very good at his game, but at this age of basketball… we need a player that can defend a 3 . Dlo never wants to do that and very slow to get through screen.

  7. I will miss DLo he was our only true pg. I don’t mind DFS. He’s one of the players we needed. I still would love to see us get Chris Boucher, Nick Richards, Jalen Duren or Bones Hyland. Look them up. Each has what we need. Boucher is 6’9” with a 7’4” wingspan who can play 3/4 and can shoot. Jalen is a rebounding and defensive beast. Nick is a young, cheap option at the 5. And Bones is a supreme upside talent wasting away with the Clippers. We can use any and all of these guys.

  8. Bottom line is if DLo was more consistent he'd be untouchable. Darvin's schemes and Lebron's penchant for bad playoff 3s really derailed the last 2 runs but several lackluster performances, the bagel at Denver and the timeout snack during last years playoffs sealed his fate. All know this was going to happen, so turning him into 2 longer, more athletic and better defensive pieces that the coach is familiar with makes sense. DLo's playmaking will be missed but Shake for Maxwell Lewis is a real get. They're quite simply a better team than before and if all are healthy, its concievable to see them playing into late May or June.

  9. This does nothing to improve the Lakers. The Lakers essentially traded for Cam Reddish and Gabe Vincent. The Lakers are not any better.

  10. Damn he's 31 🫤 i thought he was younger honestly
Guarantee you that he suddenly forgets how to shoot the basketball unnnnfortunately

  11. Ngl Rui, Dlo, AR and Wood all seem like the same type of player: inconsistent, offensively limited, defensively deficient, average athletes, that all need to start in order to be confident/effective

  12. Reaves isn't a starting caliber point guard if he is he's bottom 7ish
He's only better than Conley, Anthony Black, Keonte George, Giddey, Poole, maaaaaybe Herro
