Man KD on the warriors made that shit unfair, but Shaq can’t be stopped at all. It would make for a great series. I agree with draymond also that Shaq doesn’t get the credit he deserves. People don’t realize Shaq at his best was better than Kobe at his best. Shaq was the number 1 reason those lakers teams 3 peated. Go look at Shaq numbers in those finals.
Are the Warriors with KD better than the 2001 Kings? Imo they are the kings on steroids. That Kings team gave the Lakers all they can handle and some conspiracy theorist say GM 6 was rigged (Tim Donaghue scandal).
Nobody can stop Shaq, but what everyone doesn’t talk about is how Mike Bibby absolutely torched the Lakers and looked like an All NBA player. What do you think Steph would do? Shaq is horrendous on pick and roll defense. Mike Bibby ate all day on them, again what do you think Steph is gonna do?

Apparently you can guard Shaq. His TS% in 01-02 was only 59%, about league average in today's NBA. Now 59% was very good back then, it just isn't even above average today. You can say Shaq would have been more efficient today, which is probably true, but saying you can't guard him is flat out wrong.
In today's NBA you don't guard him either. You just outscore him. If Shaq doesn't shoot 3's he wouldn't be such a big problem in today's NBA. Zion when healthy is just a fringe top 30 player. I believe Shaq would be at least a top 5 player and MVP candidate, but nothing close to unbeatable.

Draymond saying Shaq wasn’t going to hang in the paint defensively – who would he be chasing? Bogut? Draymond himself? He can shoot his weak jumper all night the lakers would take that. No way that’ll offset the 40 Shaq would put up easily on the those weak players.
No team in this era would have been beaten that Lakers team.

I was with 2 homies who are Lakers fans, watching the '02 series vs the Kings in Miami. At the TO, I told the homies, the coach should be saying, "whatever happens don't leave Horry!!!"

There would be no answer for Shaq (or Kobe, for that matter) but you gotta talk about the other side, too. That LA team was great defensively but they not built to guard three dudes who will shoot 40% from 30 feet out, all shooting 5-10 3's per game lmao. All three will hit you with a middy too. Two out of those three (KD and Steph) can get to the paint and float or lay you to death if you get too close. That LA team wasn't built to switch everything like modern teams, just due to era difference, which is a huge problem for them. You not getting through every screen for 48 minutes. That .5 seconds is enough for that three to get fired off.

Kobe doesn't get the respect/acknowledgement he deserved. Acting like during that time he wasn't putting up 9 straight 40-point game streaks (and only ended at 9 because Phil asked him to dial it down since Shaq returned) and two of those games being 50-plus, and that he could've scored 80 points in 2003 if he didn't sit the entire 4th quarter. How you overlook a man that could've scored 80 points 3 times in his career is insane.
