@sean woodley its not fine to be this bad and get a mid pick. and by mid i am saying 8 or worse. at min it has to be top 4 or ideally top 2.
raptors need a legit number 1 scoring option who can create their own shot and put up 30 plus ppg as they wont sign in toronto in free agency and they dont want to be traded to toronto. thats the reality, scottie barnes is a 3 or 4th scoring option, same with rj. thinking they will turn into a number 1 in another 2-4 years when they havent shown it consistently by year 4 by being able to carry an offence all year long or for 3 month stretches like a siakam who was a 2.
well its like the og anunoby story. people said he was the next kawhi even though he had not shown it by year 4. and by age 24 there were people saying no. and by age 25 we all knew og anunoby was never gonna be a kawhi.
scottie barnes is a 3 or 4th scoring option in year 4. waiting another 2 or 4 years wont change that. he will never put up an average of 30ppg plus for an entire season to be considered a number 1. and i think its like a 5 percent chance or less he can be a number 2 even in 2 years.
not saying he is a bad player, he is like a slightly upgraded draymon green on offence with worse defence. its valuable. but without klay and steph, the warriors would have won zero championships if they had used draymon as their number 1 option on scoring.
RJ long term fit is a big problem and a conundrum. because he isnt big, and his defence is poor, if you go into a playoffs, the raptors have a dlo situation hunted for easy baskets. rj likely guarding a big predator wing and he is too small to do it, and he is piss poor on defence as well. i mean who you gonna put on the wing if rj on the court? IQ? its likely scottie barnes is guarding another wing already or the teams number 1 scoring option.
so if rj barett defence doesnt get to at least average from cant guard his shadow currently, he gotta be traded, cuz you cant have gradey on the floor at the same time with rj cuz both are ass on defence and easy to score on.
if you can get an inflated value on rj now, i would trade him. as its unlikely his defence will improve at this point.
you have to be brutally honest without emotions in evaluating raptors talent being in a 4 year rebuild. its gotta be like horse trading, no emotions. horse get too old or not good and cant sell him, he gotta go to glue factory. its just business while raptors are in rebuild.
