They messed up trading for Bradley Beal that simple. Made the mistake Brooklyn made trying to rely on a big 3. A worst big 3 at that.

It never made sense from a roster building standpoint. You've got 3 ball dominant players that are questionable defensively as a collective and don't put a lot of pressure on the paint. And now on top of that, they all have massive contracts and you don't have anything left to afford other guys around them. Role players win championships

but the Suns (uh…Rockets) are now sitting in the #9 spot for the 2025 lottery with Philly @8 and climbing. The Suns are one starting 5 injury away from moving that pick into the top 5.

2025 – Own pick or swap from the Suns
2027 – Own pick or swap from the Nets + pick from the Suns.
2029 – Own pick + pick from the Suns + swap from the Mavs (2 most favorable of the 3).
I believe that Stone did that trade with the Nets' not to target KD or Booker, but to benefit from the Suns collapsing by other means.
Ask yourself…
Why would the Rockets do the Suns any favors? They are in competition with the Suns for Western Conference playoff spots.
Why would the Rockets want to take on $50m+ contract(s) and lose all the cap flexibility they have while they are on pace to win 56 games?
Why would the Rockets want to lose part of their youth, depth and the Suns' picks that will allow them to reload in 2025, 2027 & 2029?
Why do the Rockets keep saying over and over that they love their roster?
JG $33m (eligible to trade after this season) + Brooks $21m would match KD or Booker, but why would the Suns want JG over Booker at SG?
I can see the Rockets taking on KD's expiring contract, but not Booker. KD for one year is not worth JG + Brooks + the 2027 & 2029 picks and I think the Suns will be asking for those picks or other young core players. Not going to happen either way.
Stone built this team for the long haul and selling part of it off and those future picks for expensive older vets will turn them into what the Suns don't want to be…same with the Rockets.
The Rockets will most likely trade JG after the season. It will be interesting to see what they seek in return. I think it may surprise everyone.

That inevitable Suns/Rockets trade is going to be very lopsided. The Rockets know the Suns need their picks back to have any shot at a rebuild this decade, so they will demand Booker without giving up any of their best assets other than the picks.
Devin Booker isn't going anywhere, he will retire in Phoenix.
go ahead and trade Booker to the Rockets and start that rebuild sooner rather than later. Cause if the 25 pick ends up top 2… boy are they gonna lose any sort of leverage possible when talking with the Rockets.

I dont think Budenholzer will have the balls to bench Beal but honestly it has been proven that starting 3 guards together who neither of them are good defenders are good idea. If Suns want to turn it around one of Beal or Tyus Jones needs to be benched or they just going to keep allowing 120 pts per game.
I just don’t know how trading for a star who plays the exact position that your best player plays is a good idea especially when neither are comfortable playing out of positions.
