I do agree about the concept of togetherness but i would assume most of the top contending teams have a high level of togetherness.
So what is the "secret sauce" to becoming a champion?
To me the thing that seems to stand out is being "exceptional or elite" at one specific thing, be it offense or defense.
Historically it's about 50/50 in regards to the top defense or top offense as being a major factor.
If you are "exceptional or elite" on one side of the court, it tends to lead towards your team being a top 3 seed in its respective conference.
I guess the easiest answer to the secret sauce is being a top seed but to me it's more important how you get to that top seed.
Are you a great offensive team or a great defensive team.
Now of course a team wants and needs balance, so your odds are much greater if you can be top 1 or 2 in one phase and also top 8-13 in another….
Top 5 or top 10 in both of course is the ideal.
So for The Nuggets, the way i see it, is they need to lean into offense first and continue to improve on the defensive end as the season progresses.
The two best players are offensive players, so that's what i believe will be the key to getting back to that "elite" level.
I would say something close to their title season…top 3 in offense and somewhere between 10 and 15 on defense.
Of course they should try to be better than that on the defensive end but i just don't see the personnel with KCP gone…
They weren't elite on defense with a top point of attack defender, so i'm not sure they can get to elite on that end.
Be great on offense!
That to me should be their identity!
