Jaden Hardy and Maxi are the Mavs who should be traded. Maxi is not athletic… at all…and Hardy is one dimensional offensively (streaky 3 shooter at best) but more importantly COULDN’T guard a chair! Grimes should stay! Hope this is just rumor.
I like the roster—as is—to the very end of the bench. Only players I'm willing to trade anyone away for are prime versions of Mavericks who've had their numbers retired.

Problem is if he wants to get paid more than what we can offer that’s the end of discussion, we gotta trade him while he has value. And keeping the roster the same won’t guarantee us a championship not because we’re not good but because of the level of competition we have to face this year

Why would Dallas want to trade Grimes? He's one of the factors why Mavs been winning games. If anything, they have more than enough firepower on the roster.. Trade the guys that have value in that, but not enough playing minutes for a big guy that can sub PJ and fits in their vibe.
Letting Grimes go would be a super dumb trade.
Grimes is playing great but trading him for an upgrade on that forward position makes sense. BUT it has to be a really good forward and not just a sub par forward. If it is just some forward I would not trade him.

The we play terrible without PJ talk is weird bc we dont have a Maxi back up thats solid. Omax is hit or miss. Maxi is finally improving. His def is getting solid again. I saw pj get spanked quite a few games on def. However, I want Portis or Kelly O. So maybe Maxi is leaving, but Hardy has to go if Maxi has to go and so does OMax. Naji need to step back up or he can go to. We need a chip this year! Dallas waisted 6 years of Luka and are somewhat responsible for the heavy milage on Luka who is constantly injured since playoffs. Careful how you talk about Maxi (or anyone else) as trading ''trash'' for someone else ''trash''… First of all, he is a human being, second of all, have some decency and moral ''obligations'' as a media channel, third of all, from basketball perspective, he accomplished alot. Just beacuse he isnt as valued on the court nowadays, doesnt mean, his past effort and deeds earn him anything close of a remark you made…On the contrary, he was integral to our teams success last few seasons and still is to this point in smaller role. He also does many things off court for Dallas as organization and city.. You can speak freely and still remain respectful and give credit where its earned. Stopped video to writte this. Okay I'm seeing a lot of calls to re-sign Grimes and rightfully so. But a lot of you are not in the know.
Kyrie is due an extension. He loves the Mavs but he is not THAT generous. He won't take a pay cut unless by some miracle.
That being said the money to re-sign Grimes would have to come from somewhere. He's asking for 14 million. That is more than Maxi's contract and almost PJ's.
Grimes is good but he's closer to Naji's price range of 9 m a year. In fact Nico offered him that but he declined.
So the question you should be asking is not should we re-sign him (Nico tried). But this: is he worth overpaying?
Me personally I would want to move Maxi and re-sign him. But I'm not giving him 14 million. He would have to compromise to a 10-12 million contract.

I’d trade the hell out of Grimes if Dallas brings in a better talent that can help the team. Only Luka and Kyrie are off the table for trade scenarios but NOBODY and I mean NOBODY else is beyond getting traded if it helps the team win now. Not attached to role players of any kind.

I'd say trade Maxi, Powell and Exum, keep Grimes (giving him an extension if can), trade for a decent PF and maybe a bench PF. Would be a decent deal with a pick swap, using their first round picks and maybe a couple second round picks.
I'm not so sure to trade Grimes. he's playing so well. in my opinion, trade Hardy & Maxi or Omax
his value is at an all time high, it all depends if we think we can afford to pay him in free agency
