Derrick White and Payton Pritchard on The State of the Boston Celtics

We’re back this week for a great episode with a pair of NBA champions — Derrick White and Payton Pritchard of the Boston Celtics! First, Tommy and Jason talk with Trey Murphy of the New Orleans Pelicans about the MVP race and the state of NBA awards. Derrick and Payton open the episode reminiscing on their time in the Pac-12 at Oregon and Colorado, what their respective NBA draft processes were like, and their first few years in the NBA. Payton shares his incredible, one of a kind, offseason workout routine, his process behind hitting so many half court shots, his thoughts on people who doubted him, and much more. Derrick and Payton also discuss the state of the Celtics, what it’s like playing with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Jrue Holiday, and players that impress them. They then share what they expect from the rest of the season. The episode closes with Trey returning for a draft of the best trios of all time.

  1. No JJ, this show is cooked. Looks like when someone buys new account and starts putting random content.

  2. A puzzling discourse really, my opinion on sports is competition. Awards serve to distinguis. So saying it's pointless in sports is just puzzling

  3. I absolutely love seeings NBA players speaking on platforms like this about stuff us fans dont get to hear about everyday. BUT…. this is really really weird imo. JJ Redick, is the Lakers HEAD COACH, and this is HIS company…. And hes got all these plauers from different teams coming on to talk about their teams. I know Redick isnt in the day to day and im not saying its anything maliscious. But just extremely odd times.

  4. Even without JJ, the long list of impressive guests and great conversation continues. I was worried at first, but props to the staff for keeping it top notch.

  5. The MVP is soiled by all of the pettiness and self delusion required to question Nikola’s mvps or on the other hand, Shai and Giannis’ valid case for it this year. Nikola impacts the game like nobody else right now.. but Shai is next in line and is on pace for 70 as the only great offensive player on the team most nights.

  6. If PP was 6 inches taller, he'd be the best player in the league – and I'm not even joking. His game is awesome.

  7. DWhite best not be exerting himself too much! He was out sick last night. We need our starters to get some minutes together!!

  8. Happy to see derrick in his element. His on court interviews/presses leave a lot to be desired 😅

  9. Props to Tommy for stepping up. Obviously big part of the pod regardless but playing a much larger role with JJ out 🔥
