If the West wasn't such a bloodbath, I'd feel a lot better about our playoff (or now play-in) hopes. With that being said, I still believe in the depth of this team. This doesn't feel like the 2022-23 meltdown just yet.
I do agree they should tank because Luka won’t be back anytime soon but they need to trade Kyrie, Klay, Maxi and Gafford and reset because they are going to have to pay Kyrie and now with this back injury he very well could turn into a Ben Simmons type contract and Mavs are fucked for the long term if they pay him. They gotta reset this whole team it’s just the truth or just trade Luka because the Mavs have zero assets outside of 2 1st round picks in the next 6 years to trade. They gotta recoup picks and in an ideal world Mavs can get Booker to be Luka’s co star for the foreseeable future because the Suns are about to be forced to blow that team up.

Mavs going to need a guy they can play through, or Kidd will have to implement a system, now we’ll have to see what his coaching is made of.
I was not expecting any of this, it SUCKS. I pray everything works out and everyone can stay healthy.
I think this can also be a blessing in disguise, think about all the experience these players are going to get without Luka and kyrie and once they are back and healthy overall the team can be deadly!
Idk the goal of the 2025 is to make the finals and have a shot against Boston. I dont see how losing five games 4/5 months out from the playoffs changes that goal.
If Luka and Kyrie are out then the mavs dont have a shot anyways.
If they are healthy for the playoffs then whats the difference between facing OKC as a 8th seed instead of a 4th seed?
