He’s literally how I use to create my player in nba live back in the days, tall, can shoot 3s does all the blocks,
Awesome video! Much appreciated 💜
he's agile as hell for his height
JOkic dropped 40 on him in back to back games.
zero championship rings. come back when he has some.
Wow im older than the rookies now
Hector Bananabread has no ceiling
As a Spurs fan my biggest issue with. Ic is that he can get into Kobe mode where he’ll take bad shots even when being guarded well. It took Kobe years to get proficient and even then he wasn’t exactly an efficient player. You can see this in his recent game against Giannis where Giannis held him pretty well because Vic kept settling for bad shots and not choosing to punish the smaller Giannis in the paint. He’ll learn… crazy to say this but he may be the best player in the league by next year.
I'm still mad that he doesn't have a hook shot.
all this happens when his team ACTUALLY PASSES to him and not act like little girlies that don't wanna play with with Wemby cuz he's too talented/popular
I could never be nasty to you, Thinking Basketball. I need your elite content. x
It's understandable to be hyped watching him, but talking about him like he will be the goat is probably not reality. As he ages he is going to take a lot of abuse at his position, and if they keep using him as primary ballscreener he's going to take a lot of hits especially in playoffs when guys are going to either go through him or fight to get around him with a lot more force than you see during the early regular season. He takes far too many shots from deep right now although he has improved this year on getting to the rim and playing his role as center. To be goat he will need to be healthy for a long time and come back from whatever injuries he sustains at the same level over a long career. That's much easier said than done and I think a career like Kevin Durant's is much more likely than becoming the goat. SO much has to go right for him to usurp guys in the top 10 and he should settle for being one of the best shot blockers or defenders of all time.
At 35% he's not a poor 3pt shooter, but he is also very high volume which isn't a great winning recipe at his percentage. When he is taking 3's there is no one under the rim to get his rebounds which there needs to be about 2/3 of the time based on his percentage. He's similar to some other high volume shooters from deep like Brandon Miller, Maxey, Trae, and Harden, but the difference is that when they miss there is a center on the floor boxing out and trying to get extra possessions. When Wemby comes up the court and misses a transition 3 there is virtually no chance that the Spurs will get that rebound, and if he is hanging out around the perimeter playing stretch-center while his teammates are shooting it's the same story. It's not a sustainable recipe for success, especially in the post season… there is a reason his OWS has never been very high and this is a huge part of why. He is nearly 8ft tall he should be dominating the offensive glass but is only recording 2.8 offensive boards per 100 possessions right now, a decrease from last year.
Is it fun to watch? extremely. And I dont know of another player with his skillset. But it's probably not going to be a meaningful recipe for team success if he is the primary ball handler, and primary 3pt shooter, and lacking on the offensive glass. Jeremy Sochan is averaging more offensive rebounds than he is and Jeremy is 6'8" while Wemby is 7'4". I don't think I need to spell out how that shouldn't be happening. Wemby's game needs to change to be more center-centric and he could really provide great metrics for winning basketball. He has the ability to lead the league in offensive rebounds but at this moment he doesn't even lead his own team.
I love your point that no matter how you want to define Wemby offensively, he’s already a defensive superstar ✋🏾🗑️
Statistically, Wemby's 3pt shot and passing are not good enough yet, and I don't think his offensive game is mature enough to carry an offense, but a few years of healthy development certainly does put him on a good trajectory. He's already looking like an all-time defender tho.
they another superstar wing away from seriously competing
Let's pray for this man's knees
I been looking for a LeBron replacement for a while .. then here comes Wemby boy are we lucky to transition from Bron to Wemby😂
Can’t wait to see what he ends up with as his running mate.
I think Wemby gaining a bit of weight and muscle would allow him to be a even more offensive player without threat of injury. I hope we see him turn into our generations Shaq but he's already playing like Yao Ming
It feels like Spurs are slowly back to being in their place. They have their franchise player in Wemby, who is mentored by two of the greatest basketball minds in USA. You have Jeremy, who is a very good glue guy and does little things very well. You have Stephon who I think will be an all star at some point and this rebuild is just SO natural
his potential ceiling as both an offensive and defensive hub is insane😂😂 this kid is special
That's the thing: even when he's not shooting well, he's such an active defender that he'll always have an impact on the game.
The chemistry with Sochan is amlazing, Vic always find him, Sochan is always there
If there is a ceiling, he'll have to duck under it so he doesn't bonk his head.
*bonk*
No gonna lie, his improvement this season is astonishing. His movements are now more clean and fluid.
wembang, everyone just wanna be like wembang. wembang is the word.
That chess opening is redicilous, especially from White. 1. f4 e6 2. f5 – a joke?
I wanna highlight that Wemby and Sochan have great chemistry in the two man game this season. The point Sochan experiment really paid off to develop Sochan’s vision and feel for the game
That shot-into-a-pass/jump passing is ridiculous. HOW do you guard that??
NGL, this guy should be banned sheeeeesh
Completely unfair
and everyone thought we were overhyping him!
Did anybody say, he's not already a superstar?
Wemby please put an end to the goat debate 🙏🙏
Until he gets injured…
The ceiling is his oversized bones and ligaments. doooiiiiiyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
he is literally just david robinson. calm down
What an era to watch the nba. The way curry and then jokic bend defences to know the perfect player from a secret french lab. We're seeing things we've never seen before. And this coming from an old head who adores the 90s.
2:10 if I was his coach and he did this, I'd probably react like Steve Kerr when steph hit that insane shot against the clippers… absolutely brilliant
Can you do a video on why you think the best players in the league (Jokic, Shai, Luka, Giannis, Wemby) are not American ?
Something worth noting is that outside of his height, Wemby isn’t very physically imposing, and I feel like most of the all time greats are. We’re watching him dominate while being UNDERWEIGHT
Bugs Bunny is still better.
Prove ?
Wemby hasn't a movie.
What really impresses me – and it might only be a feeling – is that it feels like he just "trying" things. This season is like a laboratory for him. He figured the NBA out after a few months in his rookie season and now he is just figuring out for the elite level. It is scary for the other teams … it's a wild take but for me the Spurs are serious contenders for the next season. Look what he did against NY, look what he did against Denver, and even the big loss against the Bucks feels like pure improvement or him ! I don't know … I'm French so I am biaised but to me it already feels like he will dominating for 15 years 😅and very soon ! I am talking about 6 NBA titles domination … go Wemby go !
It‘s just baffling that he already was one of the highest rated prospects of all time and yet he is even more talented than expected. Nobody knew that his passing would be this good already. He literally has no weakness anymore in his sophomore season. He is a 7‘4 beast, that can stretch the floor, easily passes outta double teams lol and can defend guards if needed wtf
5:00 3 dudes running to contest a 7‘4 dude shooting a 3…
And that smart mf passes it instead for a free lane
At his peak he could literally be among the best or the best in the league in each category. He could be the best scorer, defender and among the best playmakers in the league at the same time
He's my dream All position NBA2k 99 guard
Spurs making it to the 2nd round this year just off the strength of Wemby. Y'all will see. The spurs can't beat the Thunder or Mavs, but besides them, they have a chance vs every team in the west. With a good seeding, they could make WCF. Wemby can dominate and his value will only continue to go up on the defensive side when the game slows down in the playoffs. When we talk about players who can single handedly take over games, a lot of times it's on offense. The TRUE greats play both sides of the ball. Bron, Mike, Giannis, etc. Wemby is in that category. I'm excited to see them in the playoffs this year
