Does Atlanta, who is ready to hand over the starting job to Okongwu, bite on a Capela and Zeller for Olynyk, Boucher and some 2nd rounders offer? They would get capable backups who can both stretch the floor. We don’t need Zeller, we’d waive him, it just helps Atlanta lower their payroll a little bit
My ears really hurt. Every day since those Kevin Durant trade talks, and every trade rumors; you Ben has named Toronto Raptors as "Front Runners"….To date, absolutely nothing has happened. @benrogers brown rumors have to be seen. its more likely boucher for vanderbilt who has 4 years left on his contract and hasnt played much due to injury and cant shoot the 3. that makes more sense than rui for brown. boucher can play defence and shoot the 3 and is available and expiring versus vando who never plays and is owed 40 million.
there are bs rumors and there are bs rumors. the lakers are not gonna get rid of a useful player they can use in playoffs in rui for a brown and give raptors picks. its more likely raptors handing over a 1st for rui. thats would be stupid being in a rebuild.
its more likely lakers dump players and long term money like a vando who has 4 years 40 million owed who hasnt played cuz of injuries on raptors or a christian wood in salary dumps for two 2nd rounders.
I know it could lower flexibility some but I would first get Chicago on line knowing they may try and move Vucecic and could use some big depth if they do this?
Lakers receive Bruce B + Davion M: Chicago get Kelly O + Christian W + LAL 2nd 2025 + LAC 2nd 25 + TOR 2nd 2026 Raptors receive Rui H + Gabe V + Jalen Smith.
LAL gets off money and helps Def push this year. Chicago gets some big depth + 3 2nd round picks. Toronto fills depth holes gets more two way capabilities and most important lets us draft BPA next 2 drafts and aggregate assets if a star comes in the market that we want to take a run at.
I would keep Chris B if he wants to stay on team for about $5 per.
We would be able to see Rui and Jalen fit as both fit BBQ time line.

$66 million/year for A Davis in '27-'28? We're getting closentonthe ballpark of $1 million/game. Ridiculous does not cover it. Salaries have to stop escalating.
None of this matters. The problem starts at the top of the roster with Barnes. He's simply not the guy to lead this team into the future. He will never be a #1 option. Masai is 100% at fault for putting him in that roll and giving him all that money. How he decided to build around a roll player still blows my mind. Worst decision in Raptors history.

It became clear very early that we were organically shooting for the 3 best chances at Cooper Flagg, and this team has been expertly put together to achieve that goal without looking like we are "tanking". Why would anything change? We vastly overpaid players who are not living up to their contracts, and no one is going to give us anything of value for them. In any deal, we are likely going to get screwed. Other GMs are not that stupid. They see the Raptors as a place to offload their undesirable players–that's it–period!
