Cronin has a plan. More Blazers will start faking injuries, which gives Scoot all the reps he needs moving forward through cap space & flexibility.
It looks like the new CBA might have frozen the trade market on bigger contracts. I’d love to get a show on how to navigate that. Do we need to dump Grant for 2nd round picks? Do we need to let DA walk in free agency? What are the best strategies to navigate the new NBA reality?
Just last week everyone was saying Scoot was a bust and now we're saying we have to commit to Scoot… Despite the 39 points and 8/10 from 3, you could see him second guessing himself. I'd like to see him get the reps in and see if he can figure it out. I'm not sure I'm ready to trade Ant to make a pathway for Scoot, because I feel like his ceiling at this point is below Ant's floor.
I find it unacceptable for the Blazers to not trade their vets this deadline and then just sit them for the rest of the season. Simons and Rob deserve to go to a situation where they can compete. Grant is likely regressing because he's not in that situation right now.
I’m still uncertain that Scoot and Shae are the cornerstones of the next great Blazers team. I just don’t currently see that as their ceiling. Solid role players but not the star(s) to build a contender around, although I would be delighted if they eventually proved me wrong
