A dream trade target for the New York Knicks is Washington Wizards’ center Jonas Valanciunas. Valanciunas would provide a nice backup option off the bench for Karl-Anthony Towns.

“Valančiūnas remains incredibly productive even in a limited role. The 32-year-old is posting 21.1 points, 14.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.2 blocks per 36 minutes of play this season and would be a strong backup for the Knicks behind Karl-Anthony Towns. With Valančiūnas making a reasonable $9.9 million this year, the Knicks could use the salary of the injured Mitchell Robinson as a money-matcher to go chase the Wizards big man.”

Easy: trade Mitch and the wizards USELESS 1st for Jonas. The wizards have the extra cap to take the 4 extra million. Jonas fills two needs: back up C and bench scoring. Then we have 4 million extra in cap space and we can sign TJ Warren. Adds the wing we need and more bench scoring (depth). This is all this team can realistically do without making a stupid/desperate trade

The brutal honest truth is this probably isn’t our year. The crazy minutes our core (starting 5) are playing will build a bulletproof chemistry for next season. Moves to build depth will probably happen in the off season. No one wants Mitchell Robinson. Maybe Mitch comes back strong and can be traded or kept in the off season. Maybe our rookies will be ready to play next year. Trust the Leon!

I think Valenciounas basketball age is old and slow. Why would I give up Mitchell Robinson who's way younger and a defensive juggernaut/the best offensive rebounder in all the league stats along w/ being a good shot blocker! I think the Knicks will make a trade before the deadline. Mitchell Robinson is good, but spends a lot of time on the bench. I think it's time for the team to ship him out and try to bring in one of these guys instead:
Nic Claxton, Jakob Poeltl, Jalen Duren, Jakob Poeltl or Wendell Carter.
The coach can then move Ariel Hukporti into the role of backup center on the team.
