This should tell everyone that Stone/Rockets were very smart to trade one 1st & swap back to the Nets for two 1st & two swaps from the Suns (all unprotected). You don't see the Rockets wanting to trade with the Suns or trading away part of their young core or any of their future picks or swaps. If this deal goes down, the Suns just got older. KD and Butler will be gone after 2026 and they will not have any access to top draft picks on cheap contracts until 2032. They will have to rely on the expensive free agent market. Those 2027 & 2029 unprotected Suns' picks will be gold for the Rockets. Right now that 2025 Suns pick that the Rockets have is a lottery pick at #12. At best, the Rockets could get 3 lottery picks off the Suns over the next 5 drafts. The genius Harden Trade is the trade that keeps on giving. So far…Tari Eason, Cam Whitmore & Reed Sheppard came through the Harden trade + the still have 3 more unprotected 1st and 2 swaps over the next 5 drafts. The Rockets are building a long term dynasty.

The Miami Heat have never been a team to dump salary and start planning for next year. They are a perennial playoff team in a week Eastern conference so they would want something in return that would still allow them to compete this season.
